• CHAPTER 98 - DO NOT DISTURB

    So I'm at a motel...with Kai...alone...

It took about twenty minutes for me to drive to the motel...it would have normally taken ten minutes if I was a little more experienced. Whenever Kai would tell me I was going a little over I'd slam on the brakes, nearly throwing us through the windshield every time. Kai complemented me for my efforts, but I continued to freak out and kept offering him to drive. He always refused.

"I'm glad that's over with," I sighed while pulling the small suitcase out of the trunk.

Kai hauled out the large suitcase and the two handbags that came with it and I pressed the "lock" key on my new car five times before turning to go into the hotel. It was hard for me to rip my eyes off of my car; it was so amazing. I had never seen one in person and I actually got one.

"Enough staring; let's go in." Kai chuckled.

I did as he said and lead the way to the front door. The motel somewhat looked similar to Akatsuki's two-story apartment, only the motel was a little nicer but it wasn't top-class. We checked in and rode the elevator to the second story and Kai handed me the key to room two-oh-two. Paranoia instantly overcame me after the first thing I saw; a "Do Not Disturb" sign was already hung on the door handle, along with all of the other unoccupied rooms. Of course, that sign had to sound so much better by translating it to Spanish as well; "No Molesto".

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were Takeuchi's long lost sister," Kai frowned.

"Shut up," I mumbled while sliding the key into the slot and opened the door.

Of course...there was only one bed. I rolled my little suitcase into the room by the window and Kai followed soon after. I opened the curtains to reveal the setting sun and sighed. I peeked over at Kai and he was also staring out the window, the pastel colors of the sun's rays emulating off of his skin. I blushed and turned away at the fact that we were alone in a motel room.

"Um..." I mumbled. "I'll go take a short nap."

"You won't be able to sleep tonight," Kai frowned at me.

"It will be a short one; I've had a long day." I mumbled and collapsed on the bed.

I couldn't tell if Kai said anything else or not; I passed out before I could take another breath. I attempted to block out all weird thoughts about us being alone for possibly the rest of our lives. Maybe it could be another opportunity to delve deeper into each others lives.

    ~*~*~*~*~*~

It was dark when I woke up with a jolt after feeling my saliva trickle down my cheek. I wiped the excess drool off of my face and stretched. The clock told me I had slept for about two hours and yet I was still tired. I hopped off of the bed and finally noticed Kai's absence.

    "Kai?" I looked around.

It was when I peeked outside of the porch door that I saw Kai standing next to the motel pool outside I adjusted my vision to the poor lighting and Kai was standing shirtless, staring at the pool. Only his jeans were on and he was barefooted as well. He circled around to the stairs and stepped in slowly. He must have taken notice of my presence because he spoke up without turning around.

"You can join me, you know," he stopped where he was, waist-deep in the water.

"Um..." I panicked and decided to change the subject. "I don't think I have any clean pajamas."

"Use one of my shirts," Kai glanced back at me over his shoulder.

I only nodded and went back into the room, closing the glass door behind me. I dug through the large suitcase carefully and pulled out a white, collared, long-sleeved shirt of Kai's. I stripped down into my lingerie and slid Kai's shirt on, taking my time to button all of them. How stupid of me to not have washed my pajamas.

I snuck out of the motel room and out of the motel. I circled barefoot around the motel and approached the pool cautiously. Kai was swimming around gracefully in the deep end until he noticed my presence. He swam over to the shallow end and stood up, the gleaming water trickling down his body. I was frozen in awe and I was pretty sure Kai had no clue why.

"You came to join?" Kai snapped me out of my daze.

I shook my head immediately, "You know how I feel about water,"

"You can stay in the shallow end," he advised.

I shook my head again and crossed my arms, "I won't,"

He extended his hand out towards me, "You trust me, don't you?"

I bit my lip; of course I trusted him but I just didn't want to get near the water. Kai inched himself towards the edge of the pool with his hand still extended. He wasn't going to give up...that's one irritating trait he has. He frowned at me after I kept refusing and it took him nearly five to ten minutes of persuasion before I inched over to him. I reached my hand out timidly with uneven breathing and as soon as my fingertips touched his, he grabbed my hand and pulled me forward. I winced and tried to pull away but I knew I didn't want to. I wanted to overcome my severe fear of swimming, but it was so hard.

"We'll take it slow," Kai pulled me a little closer.

My toes were at the edge of the pool and I started hyperventilating. Kai's hands slowly made their way to my waist and he lifted me gently. My hands held onto his shoulders and I bit my lip harder. My toes were dipped into the warm water and it slowly crept up to my knees, then my thighs, then my hips, and it finally rose up to my waist. I was hyperventilating like crazy and I embraced Kai closely, never wanting him to unhand me. I felt as though if I would make any sort of wrong move that I would drown and nobody would save me.

"I'm right here," Kai kissed my forehead.

"Don't let go," I squeaked. "Stay here."

"Your heart is speeding like a race horse," he sighed.

"I know, just..." I breathed unevenly, "just give me time to pull myself together."

Kai's arms wrapped around my waist and he carried me deeper into the water. I hyperventilated again and struggled to elude his grasp and he ended up swimming to the edge of the pool on the deep end. I was on the verge of breaking down from fear and Kai caressed me with one hand, trying to calm me down while he was keeping his other arm around my waist. It took me nearly ten minutes to halfway calm down and I kept my head against Kai's shoulder.

"You doing okay?" Kai halfway whispered into my ear.

I only nodded a little bit and sighed, "Yeah,"

It wasn't until then that I realized I was wrapped tightly around Kai. My legs were constricted around his hips and my arms were around his shoulders. He kissed my neck gently and rubbed my back. He did an incredible job at calming me down, but he wasn't curing me of my phobia. I was snapped out of my daydream again after I felt Kai's cuspidate fangs caress the skin on my neck and they slid in smoothly. It had been a few days since he had blood; he was probably dehydrated. My hand ran through his hair and he leaned me against the edge of the pool.

"Don't get any blood in the pool," I whispered, hoping there were no witnesses.

I felt Kai's fangs pull out of my skin and he nuzzled the angle of my jaw. One assumption came up to mind and I played with his hair, "Your feelings haven't changed, have they?" I asked.

    Kai shook his head, "No,"

I was right; he sill wanted to make love to me. He knew I wasn't ready but I just wanted to check if he still felt that way. Would my feelings change once we're moved in together?

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Kai stared at me in the eyes. "Are you truly ready to move in?"

I nodded and smiled, "Of course I am,"

Kai looked down, "Just don't change your opinion on anything because of me," he mumbled.

I leaned in and kissed his cheek and his jaw, "I'm only following my instincts," I sighed. "But I respect you ever telling me how you feel."

"Did you enjoy your party?" he changed the subject.

I sighed and smiled, "Of course I did. I didn't request for this many presents, but I'm still happy."

We sat in silence for several prolonged minutes in the water. Kai buried his face in my neck and would run his tongue over any stray drops of blood from the wound. I started to savior the alone time together; who knows how much longer we have?

"Should we go in?" Kai whispered after another few minutes.

I nodded and closed my eyes while pulling myself closer to Kai. The feeling of teleportation took place and we were back in the motel room, dripping water. Kai teleported and came back as quick as he disappeared and he draped a towel around me. I sat myself on the bed and sighed, the realization of floating in a pool taking over. When I opened my eyes again, Kai was sitting on the bed in front of me. His complexion seemed disturbed, depressed.

"What's wrong?" I burrowed my eyebrows together.

Kai's hands made their way to my hips and he leaned in for a soft kiss, "Arisa, I don't know how much longer we have together,"
