• I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of rain falling on my window in my suburban home. The rain was slowly going away as I went down stairs to get a glass of water. Halfway down the stairs I heard something from the up stairs guest room. I started to go up toward the room, when I entered it I thought I saw a shadow but instead I saw the curtains flapping in the moonlight. I went over and closed the window and stepped in a puddle of water. I went into the bathroom and grabbed a towel, when I got the towel and came to the puddle I found that it wasn't water as I first thought, but blood, seeping through the floor. I tried and figure out where in the world it could have come from.Finding nothing, I went down stairs and threw the towel in the washer and turned it on. I went into the kitchen and grabbed a glass and went to the sink. I turned on the faucet and nothing came out. I turned it on full blast and slowly blood came out of it and out of the scratches of the sink, faucet, and floor. I turn the faucet off and it slows to a stop. I hear something from the basement. I grab my flashlight and head down the stairs to the basement floor. The darkness in the house got ever darker as I opened the old, creaky door. I stepped inside the door and turned on the flashlight, searching for the light switch. The flashlight's light beam didn't reach far into the room. I have been in this house for a month and never stepped into the basement before. I finally found the light switch and turned it on. The room was a maze of junk here and there, I saw chains hooked to the wall leading deeper in the maze. I decided to follow the chains inside the maze. After a few mis I came into a dark room, I turned on the flashlight and saw a table with a dirty glass box and an hourglass that had a few pieces of sand up top. I rub some of the dirt off the glass and see a small, gray, fist-sized thing beating inside. Suddenly the door closes and behind me an old man in an old black robe appears. He looks at me and waves his hand, and I unwillingly walk farther into the room. The lights came up as I walked and I saw what I was being forced to walk to. A table that was hooked to the chains, I saw the old man, who looked even older now, wave his hand and the chains woke up and attached themselves to my wrists and ankels. The chains dragged me to the table, and the old man, now a walking skeleton, grabbed a sickle and came over to me. He raised the sickle over my heart and cut an X over it. I tried to scream, but all that came out was blood. The man took my heart and went to open the glass box. He threw out the first heart and replaced it with mine. He suddenly got younger and younger. I felt my life fading from me, and for a second, I thought I saw the man who sold me the house a month ago. He smirked and then left. My life was going faster and faster. The hourglass gained sand on top back, rewinding the Grim Reaper's life force. I had been murdered by the Grim Reaper to renew his life. This was my final night.
