• Jenny looked at her tiny watch. She walked down her hallway, and peeked at her dad, watching him drink beer and stare into the TV. "Dad," She began. "I have a doctor's appointment in ten minutes." He didn't respond. As usual. "Okay, I'm walking now. Bye." "Yeah, Bye." Jenny brushed through her hair. She was only fourteen, and already had to got to high school. Stupid, Stupid High School. Her red bangs flew as she stomped down the block. At last, she'd arrived at the tiny brick building. "Jenny." She heard her name called. She just made it. Jenny sat down on a little plastic bed. "Jenny, today is your high school check up! Your getting three shots. Aren't you excited?" The nurse laughed. "Not really, Ms.Hill." Jenny wanted to get it over with. She lay back on the pillow, here comes 1.......2.......and where was the third shot? "Ms.Hill?" "Yes darlin'?" "Where's the other shot?" "Oh, you have to be tested for Blood cancer. It's not really a shot, It's just a blood test sort of thing. Follow me." Jenny sighed, and walked with the nurse into a tiny white and blue room.

"Hold still." Ms.Hill spoke. Jenny wanted to scream, it hurt. But she didn't. "Now just wait here darlin'. It'll take thirty minutes to test."

    So she waited...

    And waited...

"Oh my..." The nurse said. Jenny was terrified. "What is it?" The nurse started to cry. "P-Positive." Jenny shed tears as well. She got home and told her dad. He wasn't home. She decided to call him. One message. "Mrs.Williams, we are sorry to say your husband has been in a terrible accident. He was drunk driving, and won't be coming home. We are very sorry. Thank you." "No!" Jenny screamed. She didn't like her dad, but he was still her dad.

The next day, Jenny saw the evidence. Or in other cases, felt it. No hair. It was true. She did have cancer. And she was going to die. She lay on her bed, calling in sick to school. She lay there for hours. Days. Only drinking water, and thriving on soup. On Wednesday, the eighteenth day of school, Jenny closed her eyes. Never to wake again.
