~Behind my smile~
Standing in front of the mirror, it watched. Minute after minute, hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year. It whimpered, and looked around, darkness every were, it took a step back and yelped. It had bumped into its looking glass, fragments protruding, scrapping against it‘s shoulder blades.
The looking glass was the mirror, an old fashion long mirror with rusted gold trimming. It sighed and stared longingly watching the outsiders. It’s owners so called ‘friends’, they looked so happy, “can’t you see?” It croaked softly, “can’t you see my pain?…can‘t you see our pain?…can‘t you see her pain!?”
It watched out of its owners eyes as a beautiful figure danced across her vision, its master was female. It gasped as the figure stopped and started to talk with another female. “Why do you ignore her, me, us… Cheyenne…why do you cause us so much pain?” the beautiful figure, Cheyenne, continued to ignore my master.
Talking with Hailey, “what does she have that we don’t!? what makes her so god damn special!?” it screeched, slamming its fist against it’s looking glass again. fragments flew from the mirror, slicing its cheeks. Hot frustrated tears trailed down it’s face, hands bruised and raw with thousands of cuts.
“Why can’t you see the pain you cause her, me, us…don’t you care?” It slammed its body against the glass and slid down, slicing itself up even more. The bell had rung and my master was running to her locker, stashing her bag and walking to Algebra, her frustration rolling of her in waves.
Yet, she still manages to smile when talking to others, so much unbearable pain, hidden behind a strong smile. It curled up into a ball, trying to hide all its pain and let out a sob. Sobs racked its body and it shivered, that space was always ice cold.
Bitter cold nipped at it’s body, it coughed, lids slowly fluttering closed, dragged down into cold bitter darkness. It woke hours later, plagued with dreams of it’s masters love, Cheyenne. It sat up and looked through the glass, it’s master was talking to Brianna and Abby, they were good friends.
It shrieked again as it felt its masters sorrow hit it harder than before. What had happened? It shifted through her memories to third period, Cheyenne had ignored it’s master totally. A small whine escaped its lips, more tears.
Abby smiled and said something smart assed, it snickered along with its master, they really liked her. Then Jackie entered the library, master gave her the nutter butters and she paused. She asked Jackie to talk to Cheyenne, Jackie nodded and I could feel master smile weakly.
Jackie was her absolute trust-worthy best friend, it’s nice to have one of those…from what master feels. After chatting with Kerith, Jackie, Cheyenne and Haley walked in. both it’s master and itself tensed, ready to be rejected.
Cheyenne walked over and gave a small smile and a soft “hi Breanna.” Master screamed mentally, It shrieked along with her. “How can you act like it’s all ok!? You hurt us and ’hi’ is all you can say!?” Master shot her a cold uncaring glance no matter how much pain she was really in.
After Cheyenne backed away, Jackie and master exchanged a few words and the three of them wandered off. Kerith was still there, she’s a brat, trash talking choir, it wanted to kill her. Then it suddenly lolled off into another deep nightmarish hell.
It woke up when she got home, “Does she really hate me? She really doesn’t care huh…” Master sobbed.
It could feel the tears trailing down her face. “Not true!” it shrilled, “I love you…” a mental sigh could be heard, “thank you Tristan, I know, I just wish Cheyenne did too. I wish she could see the pain behind my smile.”
