“Marlo!” Sami cried, trying to run to her, but Mimiki’s words kept her back.
“Don’t move!” Mimiki ordered, and Sami froze.
Mimiki walked toward Marlo, her dress flowing in the wind. Sami stepped back, and stood in between me and Tahlia. She was shocked, and so were the rest of us, Marlo has been gone for almost a day, and here she is.
“I should have guess now you know your true self, Mina,” Mimiki said harshly.
Marlo spoke, but it couldn’t have been her, “Oh, yes it is me, Mimiki, and I have found my true self,” Her voice sounded different, older, and she slithered her words a bit, like she was part snake, “and so has Mototo.”
That name again, it was what Mimiki referred Johnny to. But, right now, Marlo wasn’t herself, and she materialized next to Sami. Tahlia and I jumped, stepping away.
Marlo or Mina or whatever her name was began playing with Sami’s hair, “Ah, my dear sister, Millennium, the Seeker of Light.”
Sami slapped Marlo’s hand away, “Don’t touch me, Mina. You know I don’t go by that, that’s not my name.”
Mina laughed, it was strange, almost like a cackle, “Oh, Millennium, you are so foolish, going by that mortal name, Sami.” She spat ‘Sami’ out as if she was talking about a piece of crap, like scrap metal.
I looked at Mimiki, my eyes begging for answers.
She looked at me, “I’ll explain later.” She muttered to me, then stepped forward, “Mina! Leave Millennium alone.”
Mina glared at Mimiki, then snapped her fingers, disappearing. Sami looked at Mimiki.
“Millennium, what does she mean by that name?” Sami asked.
Mimiki acted as if she didn’t hear the question, and said, “Let’s just go home, you saw your ‘friend’, now let’s go.”
As we walked home, it was silent, deadly silent. Sami had her hands curled up in fists, and I was worried. She looked like she was going to blow up at Mimiki, as I could tell in the look Sami kept shooting Mimiki’s way. But, Sami was probably more scared than angry. Being called a strange name, and having things about you being said, and having unanswered questions, I probably understood. When the house was in view, I sighed out of relief as the tension cleared a bit. Soon we would all find out the answer to Sami’s question. I tried to calm down myself, and looked at Tahlia, then Toby, Haven, Prim. But it didn’t work, we all shared the same face, the same expression. I then looked at my marks, how beautiful they were, and finally my heart slowed down.
The house was a foot away, and Mimiki, with a move of her hand, magically opened the door and leading us to the main room. We all walked in, Sami finally broke the forever silence.
“Now, answer my question.” She demanded from Mimiki, her eyes having a wild look to them, which was unusual for Sami, then again, it was unusual for teens to have marks on their hands, and the four of us do, I having two.
Haven looked at her, “Don’t talk to my mom like that.” She snapped in Mimiki’s defense.
“Haven, it’s ok,” Mimiki sighed, “I knew this would happen,” she sat down on the leather chair, and began, “When Mototo was born; he had two sisters, Millennium and Mina. They were the Seekers. Mototo was the Seeker of Destruction, Mina the Seeker of Death, they being twins, but Millennium was the Seeker of Light, the one that could truly bring peace to the kingdom. Mototo and Mina were jealous of Millennium, and when Mototo took over, Mina became his queen and ordered to kill Millennium. The king and queen, though, wouldn’t allow it,” she glanced at Sami, then continued, “So, before they were locked up, they put a spell over Millennium, a Sanaqou Milanto, using up their power to protect her from anything. That is why people believe the king and queen are dead. And Millennium was put into hiding, and kept preserved. Even when Mototo and Mina’s bodies died and their spirits went to new bodies, Millennium stayed in her true shell. And surprisingly, Mototo and Mina are almost in their true forms, but anyway, Sami, Millennium, you are the true ruler of the kingdom, the true bringer of peace and light.”
Sami’s eyes widen, and so did the rest of ours. Sami was basically the hidden queen of the kingdom.
“So, Millennium, shall you?” Mimiki asked.
Sami blinked, “Shall I what?”
Mimiki bowed her head, then looked up, “Accept your fate as the true ruler of the kingdom and help bring down your brother and sister?”
Sami thought for a moment, then looked at Mimiki, confident and serious, “Yes, I, Millennium, the true ruler of this kingdom, accepts this fate.” She looked back at us, “We shall bring down Mototo and Mina.”
Everyone nodded, and Sami looked at Mimiki, “But, there is one thing, do I have to go by Millennium, or do I go by Sami still?”
Mimiki smiled, “Which ever one you want.”
“Then Millennium,” Sami/Millennium said, then sighed, “and another thing, does that mean I’m not a chosen one? Because, um, just look.” She lifted up her hand.
Everyone looked, and gasped. Her swirling wind mark was gone, and replace by another mark. It resembled a golden rose, and it shimmered brightly, as if it was real gold.
“It’s the mark of Light, this truly shows that you are Millennium,” Mimiki said to Sami/Millennium.
This was bad but good. We were down another Chosen One, but we found the true ruler of a magical kingdom, and she happened to be one of my best friends.
