• Lifting his head up he sighed. The grass was itchy, but he didn't feel like moving from the grass. Pulling of another strand of his hair from his shirt he watched it before letting it fall into the wind. He had just cut his hair that morning. For the last few years he had long black hair. Turning off from the world after the death of his parents he only bothered with that kind of thing when his guardian would make him cut it. More often than not though it was usually just trimmed a few inches. For some reason when he woke up that morning the first thing he did was grab a pair of scissors and chop it off over the bathroom sink. Cleaning up before he was shoved face first into the pavement. His guardian hadn't even noticed the difference with his hoodie on not that the old hag gave a s**t about him.
Glancing at his watch he realized he should leave for his next class. Instead he continued to lay on the ground, on the itchy grass, and close his eyes. Even though he hadn't missed a single day of school for some reason he wasn't ready to go to class yet. It wasn't that he liked going to school. To him school was really just a way to pass the time. Most of his friends were the kind he never spoke to nor saw outside of the school building. He didn't like a lot of the people in his classes either. They were annoying, obnoxious, and were all around idiotic at times. Yet he still continued to go to school each and everyday that was necessary.
Laying there for a few moments only reminded him that he was on school premises. The loud bell could be heard from even the edges of the campus. Lifting his head up he wondered if he should go or not. It wasn't like he had anything to do and there was a part of him that didn't really feel like laying in the grass for an hour and a half waiting for lunch. It was boring, but class was annoying. What a condundrum that now faced him.
A discontented sigh fell one last time as he launched himself from the green grass below him. The bell for class to start had run but he couldn't help but walk as as slowly as he could manage to muster up. He looked to his side scanning the sky wondering if the threatening clouds would actually drop their rain for once. The boy was uncomfortable with the hot, sticky air that had just gotten worse each time there was a light dribble. The water would evaporate and stick into the air trying to see how much worse it could make the day for him.
It wasn't like the world directly did this to because it hated him. No, that is just what it felt like. It didn't help when it began to drizzle from the sky. He blinked for a moment, nearly tripping on an off piece of sidewalk, as a droplet fell into his eye.
Taking a moment to hop over the broken cement he turned his attention to the door that would lead him directly into his classroom. The door was open making an attempt to cool off the room with a broken cooling system and a chalk bored that always made it's squeaking noises. Chalk seemed to layer the room instead of dust.
Inwardly moaning as he lifted one foot dropping it in front of the one he was working on. Even though he dreaded it he stepped into the classroom. Thinking about it for a second he realized what it was about that day.
Today was his birthday. The day they died four years ago.
