    Chapter #7
    Iceprint's Message

I awoke to a night sky filled to the brim with stars. The half moon faint light cast a sliver sheen on the glistening blanket of snow and the trees formed an empty clearing. There was no smell of blood in the air as their was before. Everything was still and dark. I knew was in Sliveridge once more.
My body still ached but, not as much as it had during the fight. I managed to sit up straight, with my tail neatly coiled around my paws. Awaiting Wildpup and Hawkpup arrival. But no one came.
As my ears focused on the silents, I made out a voice, almost a whisper.
"It's nice to see you agian, Iceprint. Do you have a message you wish to give me at such a late hour?"
Iceprint...The former leader of Ice Clan? Lead by curiousity I left my post to explore the secret conversation. I crawled under the shrub I encountered until my eyes could see through the otherside. Frostbite was sitting four tail lenghts away from a pretty she-glaceon postioned at the edge of a ledge, studing the stars overhead. Her pelt was a rich color of colbat with cerulian paws almost unnoticable in the twilight. Not only that but, a veil of star covering Iceprint gave her a ghostly image. Just like Wildpup and Hawkpup.
From afar, threatening jagged shaped mountains could be seen in the distance of Sliverigde. Almost like the ones of mt. Coronet.
As the she-Glaceon cocked her head towards Frostbite, I was mortified to discover her left eye was missing! Nothing but a pink, fleshy scab where her eye should have been. I held my breath before I could let out a squeak of terror. She must have lost her eye defending Ice Clan from Sickle Tribe. I quickly thought to calm my racing heart. Losing flesh and limbs was a common casualty to a warrior.
When Iceprint's whole face became visible, she spoke in soft, soothing voice. "Yes, it is. And I need this message to get to Blizzardprint immediantly. One will become two, water and ice. Ice must beware the lost maiden and her Icy Flute." Iceprint then gaze pensively at the bush. "Crowfoodphase...you may come now." Reluntantly, I wringled my lower torso out of the snowy shrub. Padding carefully onto the slick ice, I noticed at the last minute. Slipping after every pawstep I took. Frostbite watched with concern of my injuried state already yet, Iceprint stared steadily at me at ease. "Hard to walk on ice as slippery as a Glacier Rock, isn't it?" Iceprint giggled. "Can you think of a better way to stand before me?"
Oh I get it. She testing how well I can handle myself under the circumstances. I stared down at the ice underpaw. The slick ice reminded me of the Piplups from last summer. Sliding from rock to rock made them look like they were flying (which they're not capable of doing).
I layed flat on my stomach, and kicked with my hind legs. Pushing me forward with extreme speed. Suddenly aware of how fast I was going, I quickly dug my claws into the ice to get a grip. But my claws merely skimmed the surface. Images of the ledge reappeared in mind as I sled closer to the edge. I closed my eyes and let out a terrified sriek.
"Quick! Catch her Iceprint!" Frostbite paniced.
I felt a light paw on my bushy tail and I opened my eyes to see that I was a tail lenght away from plunging into the bottomless abyss below. Iceprint laughed as she pulled me away from the ledge. "Relax Frostbite. I won't let this pup perish in her dreams. (I can die in Sliveridge!?! I better be careful next time...) She's far to important."
"You mean the 'Goddess Star'. I agree but, please be more careful with Mossphase. She's like my own pup."
"But she's not. And you're fully aware of that..." Frostbite hung his head down.
Ignoring the blunt comment, there were more important questions I needed answers to. "Excuse me...Iceprint. How do you and Frostbite knew I had this star on my paw?"
"When the Goddess star was awaken, a strong but breif enegry transmitted through the World of the living, the Realm of Departured Souls, and the Reverse World. It is still radicating now as we speak. Every living souls inbetween these areas that are powerful enough can locate the presence of the star's power from upclose or afar. As soon as Star Clan was informed that the star awakened, we quickly explained it to Frostbite that it was neccessary keep a close watch on you."
    "...Reverse World?"
"I'll explain the majority of it to you later but, all you need to know is that that is where the Darkrai whose been staking you is said to live."
" Oh, that reminds me! I meet Darkrai again the night before, he mentioned something about a contract made with someone to sacrife my soul to the darkness. I hope you know how it is, Iceprint. Your the only pokemon I can talk to about this."
Sadly, Iceprint shock her head. "I am sorry, young one. Star Clan wasn't watching over Ice Clan at the time of the contract so, I haven't got much answers to fill. That is for you to find the solution to your answer. Now it's time to wake up, Crowfoodphase."
"Wait! Just one more question. Please!"
"...Alright. One last question. What is it?"
"...Are you familiar with Wildpup and Hawkpup? They usually talk to my in my dreams. But lately I haven't seen them much. Did anything happened to them?" After just discovering that even if you past away and end up here, it's still possible to die again. This made me very worried.
Iceprint gently licked the swirl on my head. "You mean Wildphase and Hawkphase." My eyes flew open. "Just because they are now part of Star Clan dosen't mean they'll never achieve there dreams destined to them since birth. They are probably trying to make time for you while attending there rookie duties. They will make themselves be seen when the time comes." Iceprint then leaned closer until the her fur brushed against the side of my face. Her hot breathe touched the delicate skin on my ear as she whispered. "Now it is time for you to wake up Crowfoodphase. You've been sleeping for far too long, and it's time for you to awaken. Hurry and wake up...wake...up...hurry....................." My head was slowly falling onto my paws and, soon shut my eyes. I was soon asleep once more.

    idea

I awoke to the unpleasant smell of herbs and the scent of blood that mingled in the air. Opening my eyes, I saw Frostpelt resting infront me.
"It's true! I saw her with my own eyes! Mossphase was amazing on the battlefield." I grunted as I atemped to sit up straight. My paws crunched under what sounds like snapping twigs. Frostpelt was now aware of me stiring and twisted her head towards me."Ah! Mossphase, your finally awake. You've been sleeping for nearly a whole day now. (Oh. So that's what Iceprint meant when she whispered I was asleep for too long.) I'm sorry I must be blocking your veiw."
As she strolled over the left side of my makeshaft nest. I reconzied the eyes of the gathering party glowing in the gloom. I observed the small area. There were icicle hanging from the towering ceiling. My paw reached the cold, rocky floor layed beneath my makeshaft nest was bone chilling to touch. At first glance outside, a snowstorm was raging."Where are we?"
"In a cave." Blizzardprint replied. He and his life long compainion, Lepardpelt, was knealing side by side in another makeshaft nest on the otherside of the cramped cave. "The snowstorm came earlier than expected so, we have no choice but to take on the storm if we want to get to the gathering on time. But first, we need to rest and wait for the injured to heal." Blizzardpelt nudged his head towards the southern side of the cave. Snowphase, heavily bandaged up with Spinark cobwebs, was tightly rolled up into a ball asleep.
My mother protectively curled around the little bundle and glared at us thourgh the gloom. There was a heavy knot in my chest watching those two together like that but I quickly pushed the feeling aside, there was nothing for me to get envious about. Blizzardpelt continued. "In the meantime, I would like the discuse the battle in Sickle Tribe territory with you Crowfoodphase. Near the end of the fight, Frostpelt and I both witnessed you using Shadow Ball."
    "...S...Shadow Ball...?"
"It's a ghost type move that hurls a black blob made from shadows at your target, commonly learned by ghost, dark, and psychic pokemon. Others types are capable of understanding this specail attack as well but it takes a while before they can fully master it. What I want to know is where on earth did you gain the knowledge of such a thing?"
I met Blizzardprint's unreadable gaze and then, I to the sandy floor. "I don't know myself...It was just something I picked up in the heat of the moment. Please believe me." I couldn't think of anything more shameful than my leader losing his trust over me.
Afterwards a brief silence took place before Blizzardprint spoke agian. "...I suppose you have a point. Ice Clan has witness incidents like yours. For that I believe you statement. And since you have little experience nor control over your new founded power, I advise you to pratice Shadow Ball until you can fully master it with the assistence of your mentor of course."
"I must say, that was an interesting discovery for a pup your age." Croaked Leopardpelt.
    "I agree. Very impressive."
"It's too awesome for words!" Clawphase suddenly piped up out the a nest a little farther behind of Blizzardprint; sharing the nest with Whitephase.
"I hope Featherstorm will teach me something equally as cool!" Excitment sparkled in Whitephase's eyes.
"Me too!" Though Hollyphase's voice was heard I still couldn't find her in the blackness.
Frostpelt whispered into my ear. "You really are something special." My fur suddenly felt hot from embrassment. Everyone has been saying that a lot latly...
"As soon as Snowphase wakes up, we'll leave towards the three bridges. But Snowphase's paws aren't fully healed yet for her to walk so, some pokemon has to take shifts carrying her before she can walk on her own." Frostbite announced after gathering what little supples he could scavenge in he's medicine bag. Hollyphase, Clawphase, Whitephase, and myself stared blankly at Frostbite. "The three bridges isn't anything too exciting. They're just brigdes and stairs that elevated off the ground, leaving a narrow footpath through a canyon into mt. Coronet. They both ends at the same point."
"You know, I always wondered what the birds see when they're up in the air. Don't you." Clawphase questoined. "I do!" Hollyphase blurted. "I think the bridge would make a perfect
height for a bird's eye veiw!"
    "Yeah!" Whitephase squeaked.
In the confusing of the conversation, Articphase abadoned his makeshaft nest he shared with Crystalphase, slightly creeped into my nest. "Your not too sore to make the trip are you? Because I can carry you myself, if you like." Articphase insisted.
"Thanks for the offer but I'll do fine by myself."
"Can I sleep next to you for a while, Crystalphase's snoring is driving me crazy."
    "Go ahead."
I rested my head on my paws. Iceprint's message rang in my ears. 'One will be come two, water and ice. Ice must beware the lost maiden and her Icy flute.' ...Hmmm. I remeber this one time during training, that Frostpelt explained a bit about the mountains. "All clans northwest to southwest stays with a specific clan after they entering mt. Coronet. They do this because they don't want eastern clans to feel overwhelmed." She also describe the parts of the mountain where one side has never melting ice and the other has underground lake and waterfalls. Maybe that's how the message labeled the groups yet...
I found myself staring out the cave opening into the blizzard. Who is this maiden of which the message speak of and why was it so important to avoid her at all cost? Did it had something to do with the Goddess Star or something far more darker than that?
