I looked up into the night sky, perfectly at peace. The moon shown brightly, eliminating the earth. I could smell the bakery shop a mile away. They were baking fresh chocolate chip cookies and bread. I inhaled the sent. I haven’t had a decent meal in weeks but being in the depression, no one had except the Nobles.
I knew that I had to take my mind off of my empty stomach. But being that it growled with every movement I couldn’t. My mom had died of the flu pandemic on January 12, 1919. Not but 3 years after I was born. Two years ago, on July 15, 1930, my dad was murdered, leaving me and my twin brother to look after our little sister.
I am 16, living on the streets, during the depression. I have a 10 year old sister and a 16 year old brother at my side. No parents. Just the three of us. No money, no food, nothing. You can’t imagine how hard that is.
“Sarah, wake up. The Fuzz doin’ runs. They’ll catch us.” My brother said shaking me to wake up from the long needed slumber.
“Sean. Just two more minutes please.” I whined. It wasn’t before long until I heard one of them call to us.
“Hey you kids. Come here.”
“s**t” I said instantly jerking awake. I looked at the man. He had a uniform on and a gun at his side. “Get Alice, and get ready to run.”
“What ‘bout you?”
“I’ma make sure that he don’t get you.”
“I ain’t gunna leave ya here.”
“I’ll be fine. Just get outa here.” I turned to the man that was slowly making his way over to us. “Go now.” I told him. He did as I said and bolted our little sister in his arms. The man started to run towards them, passing me. I picked up an old milk box and threw it at the back of his head, getting his attention.
”What the hell? Why you little.” I stuck my tongue at him and started to run the opposite way, leading him away from my brother and sister. “Catch that girl” the man said blowing his whistle. I ran threw the streets as fast as I could but it wasn’t before long when the fuzz caught me.

Um....I'm not sure if the Depression was called the Depression at the time
But other than that I think it is a great story... a little bit more description and you've got a wonderful thing
I know it's a preface so the description didn't need to be shown here. - Report As Spam
