"Leslie! Up an' at 'em girlie! We've got a party to set up!." my brother shouted into my dark room. "Let's go!" he said as he flicked on the lights.
"Go away Magnus!" I yelled and threw my pillow in his direction. Like it was nothing, he caught it and raised one typically, perfectly groomed eyebrow at me. "It's two in the freaking morning! Jeez, you're such a f**!" I yelled as I curled back into a ball under the blankets.
"Oh I am? What makes you say that little sister?" he asked. I contemplated throwing a charm his way, but thought better of it. Instead, i peeked out from under my blanket only to find him closely examining my string of chinese lanterns.
"Well, not many guys wake up their sisters at two in the morning to prepare the apartment they share for a party. In honor of their cats birthday, might I add." I said as i slung my legs over the side of the bed. Searching the wreckage of my room for my bathrobe I noticed that he was still there. Spying my bathrobe i put my hands squarely between his shoulder blades and pushed him out in front of me. "Shoo! I need to shower and get ready. Start decorating without me." I said as i walked into the bathroom we shared. I heard him muttering to himself as he walked away. Smiling slightly to myself at my minute victory i turned the knob in the shower, and cold water came pouring down.
"Magnus! You used all the hot water again!" I shouted as I started weaving a heating spell. Carefully stepping into the newly heated shower I started washing the glitter and gel from yesterday out of my hair. My hair was fairly short, at least the back was. It took me at least a half an hour to shower, now to dress and get ready for a party, that's a whole new story. Wrapped in my bathrobe I walked out of the steamy bathroom, only to bump into Magnus.
"Lez, hang on a second." His arms were covered in massive tangles of blinking lights. "Pillars, or ceiling?" he asked as he held up a swath of blinking white lights.
"Ceiling. They'll look like stars. Put the colored lights on the pillars." I said. He grinned and gave me a quick one armed hug.
"Thanks Leslie." he said and walked back down the hall. I laughed silently to myself and shook my head. Leave it to Magnus to make sure everything was perfect for a party.
Closing my door behind me I made my way to my closet. Slowly but surely my outfit came together. Eventually I came out of my room dressed to party. Neon green skinni jeans, and knee high Chuck Taylors. My belt was nothing special except for the hot pink rhinestones embedded in the L shaped buckle. A neon blue tank under a black leather jacket, lightly dusted with dark grey glitter completed the outfit.
Now to put my makeup on. Searching out my pallate of eyeshadow in the clutter on the bathroom counter was no easy task. Muttering to myself about cleaning up I applied the sparkly black eyeliner that I shard with Magnus. Capping it back up i smudged the line under my eye. Next came the eyeshadow. Then, my favorite part, i did my hair. Carefully I spiked up the back of my hair and dusted it with a light green glitter from one of the numerous tubs on the counter. Then I moved on to the front. Like I did every day, I strung random chunks of hair through sparkly, glow in the dark, and neon colored beads. In an attempt to clear things up a bit I stacked all the pallates of eyeshadow in the corner, all the tubs of giltter on top, and all the eyeliner went in a cup.
"There. Now we don't look like a bunch of pigs." I said. Pleased with my work I walked out of the bathroom for the second time that day. I paused as I entered the living room. The whole place was perfectly decorated.
"Wow Magnus. You've really out done yourself here." I said as the door bell rang. "You wanna get it?" He shrugged and started down the hall.
"You get it. I have to fix my hair anyway." he said over his shoulder. I sighed and shook my head as i made my way to the front door. Playing up the good hostess act I opened the door, and the first flow of guests came to part the night away.
