• It had been ten years since Anna Marksmen woke up in a hospital bed only to realize that she had been paralyzed from the waist down. Her mother told her that she was hit by a drunk driver, at first she was angry, but after a while she began to feel sorry for the man, but grateful that she still had her life. Anna felt sorry for the drunk driver because she thought of all the reasons as to why he would drink his life away. Maybe he was depressed or something very horrendous happened to him recently, Anna thought about all the possibilities of why he would want to drink. The only thing Anna couldn't understand was why something so terrible as loosing her legs had to happen to her, she had always been a respected and well liked person. Slowly she began to spiral into depression and retract into her self as the traumatic experience began to hit her hard. Her parents began to worry about her a lot, so they arranged for her to see a shrink. The doctors name was Samuel Tyfus. Dr. Tyfus was generally a nice person who was always attentive when listening to what she had to say, even when she yelled he stayed completely calm. He was someone who actually listened to her when no one else would let her express all the thing she kept inside. Dr. Tyfus started to give her advice as to how to deal with the things that irked her or made her sad. Gradually of the course of two years Anna began to become the old Anna that everyone loved, except she was in a wheelchair now.
Eight years passed since she met Samuel Tyfus, if it wasn't for him she would probably be dead or closed up in a dark corner feeling angry towards herself and others. If it wasn't for him she would have never gone to college to pursue her life long dream of being a lawyer. At first she thought that she would be rejected at first from Harvard, but they graciously accepted her as is she was a regular student. Anna became even more nervous when it was her first day in the class room would be a nightmare, but it wasn't a nightmare, people were actually friendly towards her, even a tall attractive man with dark handsome features spoke to her. His name was Drake Rength; Drake was one of the nicest people she had ever met in her entire life. He was friendly and open, he tended to ask her a lot of questions, but as he spoke she felt like he wanted to ask how she ended up in an electric wheelchair. Drake didn't even attempt to ask the question, obviously he was a considerate type of man when it came to someone's feelings.
Every time she had class with Drake he became more and more interested in her, Anna even found herself starting up conversations with him than he did with her, was she starting to like Drake? Did he like her in return? The thought of not knowing the unexpected made her feel happy, but also sad as well. She didn't want to be told if he didn't like her in a romantic way, but she would be happy for he would continue to be her friend for they shared several interests.
Halfway through the year Anna was reading in the park and someone came up behind her and placed their arms around her small shoulders. For a moment she was scared, but then Drake began to laugh and instantly relief rushed through her. “What are you doing out here all by yourself?” Drake had a nice voice, it reminded Anna of silk brushing up against the back of her palm. Drake was in front of her now smiling at her with a boyish charm that she had never seen before, until now. “Drake, what's up, why are you acting all giddy?” Anna was slightly concerned, but then her heart began to beat faster as Drake came closer to her until their faces were two feet apart. “Well, I came to find you because I wanted to know if you would accompany me on a date.” His soft baby blues eyes stared into her sharp green eyes with nothing but complete earnestness. A wide grin broke out upon Anna's face as she completely baffled by his offering, she didn't know what to say. Drake laughed softly, “Aw, c'mon, don't tell me getting bashful all of a sudden, where's the fun vivacious girl I know so well?” Anna began to laugh herself, but then she spoke, “So, what is this date that you prattle on about so highly?” Drake cocked his lower jaw out slightly as he herd her response, he either liked her response or absolutely hated it. “Well, I was thinking that we could go and get some dinner later tonight at a quaint little restaurant that opened up a bit ago, it's down town by the old art gallery.” A warm smile spread on Anna's face as she listened to her speak. It had been ten long years since she went out on a date, so this made her feel extremely happy, like she was a regular girl. Drake noticed her smile of approval, his boyish grin still upon his lips, “Well, I guess I'll go to your dorm around seven?” Anna nodded happily as he turned away from her. A great wave of joy ran through her veins as she thought about what she should wear, let alone what she should do!
Immediately Anna made her way back to her dorm for she needed to consult her roommate Sarah Gershine as to what she should do. It took Anna ten minutes to reach the top floor by use of the elevator. Then it took her an additional five minutes to get through the hall of clustering people, it made her angry that people didn't take notice of her right away until a great deal of time passed. Anna knocked on the door and Sarah came and opened it with a friendly smile when she saw that it was Anna. For knowing each other for about two months Sarah and her came to know each other quite well, and they also enjoyed each others company which made sharing a dorm with a complete stranger so much easier.
Sarah held the door open for Anna and she wheeled into the clean dorm room they shared. “Sarah, you'll never guessed what Drake said!” Anna's tone of voice went up a few octaves as she spoke to her roommate. Sarah lifted a narrow dark brow as her curiosity was peaked by the sudden excitement in her voice. “Drake asked me to go out with him, I don't know what to wear. Oh god, what if he doesn't like what I wear, oh my god what if he thinks I'm dull?” Panic took over Anna as she thought about what could possibly transpire between her and Drake during dinner. It scared her as she tried to think of reasons as to why Drake would hate her. During the time that her thoughts raced Anna didn't notice the Sarah was beside her, but when she felt Sarah's reassuring hand her mind stopped racing. “Look, Anna, you are a beautiful girl who is going on a date with a beautiful man. Don't sweat it, I'll lend you some of my clothes. You know I won't let you go to dinner looking like a fool.” Anna as glad that she knew someone like Sarah. If she never knew Sarah she would probably end up ripping out her hair from fretting too much over what Drake thought of her. Together she and Sarah put together an outfit that made Anna look like a young, but distinguished person. Her long blond hair was curled slightly, which gave a youthful look about her. Anna didn't wear makeup, but tonight she would, just for Drake. Her eyelashes were accentuated with with a dark mascara that made her green eyes pop, her eyes also stuck out more from the soft purple eyeshadow she wore. Seven approached quicker than Anna had anticipated, from Drake showed up before she even realized what time it was. Sarah greeted him at the door so Anna could have a moment to compose herself before seeing Drake, beauterflies swam in her gut that made her feel like an utter fool. She waited a few minutes before she walked out into the foyer. Drake's attention turned from Sarah to Anna immediately, a look of astonishment appeared on his face, “You look absolutely stupendous!” He walked over to her and handed her a bouquet of red roses. It was one of the most sincere gestures she ever received in her whole entire life . Together the left the dorm and headed for the little Italian restaurant he spoke of so highly to her. Over dinner the talk about politics, which was one of Anna's favorite subjects to talk about, she always like debating with people about the way the world was. Slowly the conversation turned into Drake asking her personal questions and she asking him some in return so that the conversation wouldn't just stay focused on her the entire time. The conversation started to lean towards what each was going to do for the rest of their lives, what kind of children they wanted and how many they wanted to raise. Time seemed to slip away from Anna's mind, the time trickled away so quickly as they talked that Anna and Drake were the only two people left, not including the staff. The night truly was spectacular by far one of the best she ever had. Drake took Anna back to her dorm and the night ended with him kissing her for the first time.
After the first semester Drake proposed to Anna, two years later they finally got married, and three years later Anna gave birth to a healthy young son that they named Samuel. Anna had been working for a law firm as a secretary for she didn't feel like becoming a lawyer just yet, she wanted to spend more time with Samuel. Drake had taken on small construction projects that brought in a decent amount of money so they were secured financially. Together they lived in a small, yet spacious tree room apartment in California's prestigious Orange County. Anna had never know compassion and love until she met Drake Rength, the most compassionate man she had ever loved. Without him she would be lost.
