• The townspeople were starting to come out. They questioned why such a ferocious monster was lying dead on top of two crashed houses. Some were terrified; others were starting to talk over what they would do. Meanwhile, Rayne was making her way to her home, an abandoned shed that was filled with hay, wooden food tubs used for feeding animals, and a small, cute human boy sleeping peacefully in the middle. Rayne walked in silently, seeing light shining on his small body. He lay peacefully inside the shed, small snores were heard. Rayne lifted her mask, smiling as she watched her little brother roll over, mumbling in his young voice he had. She lifted the bag of bread, bringing it over to him. She bent down, gently pushing at his side.

“Wake up, I’ve got you some chow,” she whispered, seeing his sky blue eyes pop open. He grinned ear to ear, jumping up to give her a hug.

“Sissy! I’m so hungry~!” he exclaimed, stretching out the ‘hungry’. She patted his soft brown hair, letting him sit back on the hay. He was so small, he was a strong little boy. He was not selfish at all, he managed to stay in a rotten shed most of his eighth year of living, and not a single complaint was heard. She broke the bread in half, giving him the bigger half. He sunk his teeth into the fresh bread, chewing happily.

“This is really, really, really, reaaaaalllyyyy good!” he tried to sound happy in his statement, but barely audible by his mouth full.

“Heh, looks like someone was hungry,” she chuckled, ruffling his head as she dug into her share of the bread. It was truly tasty, the bread sent a good taste down her stomach.
    “Oh, sissy, who is that?”
Rayne looked to see a man running by, limping on his legs as he cried for help. “Help! Someone help!” he screamed, chocking up and falling to his knees. His face crashed on the streets. Rayne was quick to drop her food, running outside with her brother by her side. “Stand back, Pip,” she ordered her brother, having him nod and stay close behind her. “Sir, what happened?” she asked, but looked at his back. His clothes were torn, long scratches going down his back. Blood was starting to sink out of his revealed inside, slowly staining his shirt. “Don’t worry, stranger, we will get help,” she promised, looking around. She saw people started to scream, running towards her to sprint past her. “Excuse me! Please! This man needs attention!” she yelled, but people were running, ignoring her plead.

“Sissy, I’m scared,” Pip, her brother, was shaking, looking around with wide eyes.
“Don’t worry, Pip, it’s all okay,” she tried to reassure him, but honestly, she was as scared as he was. She saw the town abandoned, but not all. She heard the ground shake, causing Pip to jump. And just so you know, it wasn’t any earthquake. The man whom she was helping ran up, limping as quick as he could out of there. Rayne felt her heart skip a few beats. Pip ran over to grab the side of her cape, tugging it as he tried to run the way people were going. “Come on, Sissy, we need to go where those peoples are going,” he whined, slowly forming little tears in his eyes. Soon, she was faced with what might have been the worst, the most horrid, the most terrifying thing she had ever, ever faced before. Pip was crying his eyes out, hiding behind Rayne. In front of them was a huge beast, ten times bigger than the one before. He resembled the last one, but this time, this one had blue scales, sparkling like glass in the sunlight, a tail was swiping everything in his path, a pair of deep white eyes, staring at Pip and Rayne with fierce anger. “Oh, my god,” she gasped, getting up from the ground and running with Pip in her arms. Please, please, please let this be a dream! Her mind was racing and so was her feet, running down the street. She felt the feet of the monster break through the ground, making a hole each time it came closer. She sprinted away, but the monster got closer. She saw the foot come too close this time, and it was right above her. Pip, he and her were going to be squashed by God knows what the hell this was.

“Not on my watch you don’t!”

The foot she was suspecting would stomp on her was now hovering over her, right above her head. The shadow castled above her, and she looked next to her to see the same man, the one who saved her the day before, holding his sword up against the monsters foot, holding it in place so the foot would not fall. He looked at Rayne, and she caught a short glimpse of his face. Bright green eyes looked at her, showing he was working hard to keep the foot up. His raven black bangs covered his forehead, and thin lips opened for him to scream over the monsters roar, “Get out of here!”

She was shaky to make a nod, running out from under the foot and to the way the other people were going. Pip was screaming and whining as she carried him behind her back. She stopped when she was far enough to watch the monster roar, shaking its head in frustration, or in confusion as to why his foot was not going down. Then, his foot slammed down onto the ground. Her jaw dropped and eyes widened like a plate. “NO!” she screamed, feeling pity for the poor man. He was trying to save her! Then, she saw the most amazing thing. The foot, the one who stepped on the man, slowly lifted back up, catching the monster by surprise. The foot lifted far up to where the man who had saved her was holding it up with two hands. He struggled, but soon, he pushed the foot up high, so the large beast fell, fell to the ground. He took out his sword, and STAB! He aimed for the monster in it’s large belly. She watched as it stopped moving, crashing against the houses. “Looks like another monster is history,” she saw him smirk, slipping his sword back into his case. She gasped, and was about to run after him, but before she could move two footsteps, he was in the air, jumping safely on his two feet in front of her.

He brushed off his clothes, grinning at her. She looked back to see Pip’s jaw dropped and hand around her neck. “Looks like all these Mythicals are after you,” he chuckled, taking of his hood. His hair was messy, but he didn’t seem to care.
    “After me?”
    “Yeah, you. You know why?”
“I’ve never even heard of the term ‘Mythicals’, how should I know?”
“Well, seeing as you don’t have a safe place here, I’ve been ordered by the council of Star lighters to bring you back to them.”
“Star lighters? What is going on?”
“I’ll explain later. Whose this little feller here?”

Pip, happy he was recognized, jumped off of Rayne and by her side. “I’m Pip! I’m Rayne’s brother!” he grinned, showing he lost his two front teeth. Somehow, she knew that the man was caught in the cuteness that was her brother. “Well then, Pip, glad you can join us.”

“Glad! Rayne, Rayne! Can we go with mister…” he tried to remember his name, when the man interrupted.
“Dayne, Dayne Bernard,” he greeted, shaking his hand as Pip nodded.
“Mister Dayne wants us to go with him! Isn’t this exciting, Rayne!”

Rayne raised an eyebrow, hands hitting her hips. “How do I know you aren’t a bad guy?”

The man, Dayne, laughed, “I saved your sorry butt two times, and you think I mean like I don’t care?”

Rayne blushed, glaring, “A‘right, fine. We’ll go. But, you have to explain everything on the way.”

“Yay! Dayne, can you teach me to fight like you?” Pip asked excitedly, jumping up and down. Dayne ruffled his head, walking up ahead with him. Rayne watched him get her brother pumped up, showing him his sword. She couldn’t help but smile. She had never seen her brother so excited about something. Maybe this Dayne guy would be a good brother type person for Pip. And he would help her know what these creatures are doing, why they were after her, who was the Council of Star lighters, and more. Plus, why he had the strength of a God. All in due time, Rayne, all in due time.
