• “After June 12, 1962 Lee Jones and Joe and Frank Smith where never seen again.”
As Joy turned off the VCR and the TV she wondered if those men were still alive. She called Will Scott, a good friend at the San Francisco Police Station.
    “Hey Will, it’s Joy.”
    “Hi Joy, what’s up?”
“I just finished watching ‘The Famous Escape’ and was wondering if you could find the files from after June 11, 1962.”
“I thought that the escape happened on June 12 of that year?”
“They did, but I want the files from before that day and from about a week to about two weeks after they escaped.”
“Alright, when do you want them by?”
“As soon as you can find the files would be good enough.”
“Alright, I am guessing that you are going to try to do some research and see if you can find one or all of those men.”
“Yep, you know me… I’ll see you when you find the files and thanks again.”
    “Yep, see you soon.”
After Joy hung up she started to rewind the movie to watch it again just as the door bell rang. Joy got up and went to the door.
“Hi Will, do you have the files?”
“Yep, here they are. Do you mind if I help you with this investigation?”
“Thanks for the files, and I don’t mind you coming.”
“Would you like me to help you go the files?”
“Sorry no, I think I can figure them out pretty easily on my own, but thanks any way.”
    “I understand, see you later.”
After Will left Joy set to work reading the files.

    THE NEXT DAY

“Lee and Joe may have survived, but how? The reports do say that there was a bank robbery in San Francisco three days after they were discovered missing, witnesses say that there were two men who matched the description of Lee and Joe. So they may still be alive, but where? I doubt that they would still be living in the San Fran area.” Said Joy
“I wouldn’t know where to begin; they could have had plastic surgery and changed their names. I could ask all of the hospitals who have plastic surgeons and see if they have seen anyone who matched the descriptions of Lee and Joe.”
“That would be helpful, but who would still be doing plastic surgery after what? 18 years?”
    “That is a bit of a problem…”
After a few hours Will needed to get to work. Joy figured out that she was no closer now than she was yesterday.
I need to get out of this house. Joy sighed.
As Joy went to the mall to do some shopping and she ran across some men who looked like Joe Smith and Lee Jones, with some plastic surgery, and she overheard that they were for sure going to get caught now that the movie about them was out. Soon she started to put the pieces together. Joe and Lee robbed a bank three days after the escape to give them enough time to plan and let things die down about them escaping then rob the bank and get some plastic surgery done, get fake named, and live in the San Fran area. Immediately Joy started to trail them, but at a safe distance. Soon they caught on that someone was following them and pulled out a gun and started to shoot. Joy had already written down the license plate number and had her cell phone out ready to call 911. She called as soon as they started shooting.
“Hello, this is the San Francisco police station. How may we help you?”
“Hi, this is Joy Small. I am following a car that is shooting me. The license plate number is, HVC124BC. We have just past The Tech Museum we are heading south by south west. The occupants of the car I believe to be Joe Smith and Lee Jones.”
“Please stay on the line. We are able to trace your call.”
Joy continued to follow the car. Soon some police cars pulled out in front of her and started to chase Lee and Joe. After about an hour the police caught them. Lee and Joe confessed to everything and said that Frank slipped off of the raft, and they threw one of the life jackets by the Golden Gate Bridge to make the police think that two people have died instead of one. Joy was recognized for helping catch the escaped convicts.
