CHAPTER ONE
“Ungh!”
“Oh! The girl does not like it when we cut her. Casther! Bring me another blade. A bigger one, perhaps?”
“You touch me with a blade again, I swear I’ll--”
“You will what?! Kill me?! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Without your weapons you are nothing but a scrawny little elf that relies too thoroughly upon her friends and weapons. Where are your friends, Melony? Hm?”
“They’ll find you!” They’d better. Come on, Jonny. Where are you?
“I truly doubt that."
The only thing on Jonathan’s mind was the schedule for the day and Melony, his only true love. Jonathan was born into a major crime family. His parents were Kevin Sartruce and Charlene Sartruce. They both died long ago. Killed by another crime family; Kevin and Charlene were trying to steal the other family’s fortune of artwork, but were caught and put to death. Now, Jonathan lives on his own.
Melony is an elf. She lives in eastern Ireland along with a lot of other magical creatures. The creatures were herded to the east in the late 1600’s. They were greatly feared by the humans. The humans decided to banish these magical beings to the forests surrounding the towns. Today, they are thought of as fairy tales.
All day, Jonathan has been waiting for Melony. Jonathan was beginning to think something was wrong with her. He decided to call her. He got out his cell phone and dialed her number. It rang for a few seconds, and was finally picked up. A growling voice spoke, but in a different dialect than Kinthonic, which is the regular language for most magical creatures.
“Hello?” it said in a growling sort of voice. Although he did not know the language that the voice had spoken, Jonathan understood it completely.
In the same language, he said, “Can I speak to Melony, please?”
