• Amelia sat at the computer and twirled her bangs around her left index finger. Her messy brown hair was pulled into a ponytail. The blonde highlights she had gotten two months ago had started to grow out. She pushed the 'alt' and 'tab' button at the same time and came upon her youtube account. Hero by Skillet was playing. Amelia read through the comments. "hey you nazi f** no one cares what you gothic fags think you going to hell anyways and you wont enjoy the great afterlife. god is teh higher power man is just the scum to the planet raping it polluting it. dominating over other life. burn in hell," said one comment. Amelia sighed and shook her head. What was this world coming to? "Listen guys, I for one am not Christian. I am no religion at the moment. I don't care what you call it, I don't have a religion. Even though I do not believe in God, I still respect your religion. It upsets me to see that people are yelling at eachother over youtube about this. If you feel it's right to judge someone based on their belief or what they say that puts you at the same low level as the person you are yelling at. If God is the higherpower, you are saying you can take over his position by telling someone to, and I quote, 'burn in hell'. If you want to talk about religion, I won't stop you. I just ask you to please refrain from yelling and cursing at eachother about it, especially in public. There is a place to do this, and that is not here. I think the maker of this video would appreciate this also. Thank you." She posted one half first then another. It was too long to fit in just one.
Skipping to another song, she sighed again. 'What song now? As Cities Burn? Never heard of it. Ah well, sounds cool.' she thought absent mindedly reaching down to pet her dog, Atreyu who was asleep at her feet. Part german shepard, part chow, Amelia thought he was part jackrabbit with those sattalite ears he had. He looked up sleepily, a goofy expression on his face. When he realized it was just his sister, he laid back down.
    "Good boy," she whispered.
Turning back to her computer she checked her e-mail again. No new messages. Boring. She leaned back in her office chair. It was the kind that spins, and rolls halfway across the room if you push off. It was a fun chair. Getting up from the chair she walked down the stairs, leaping off the second to last one, and landing with a soft thump. She turned a corner, watched the cats go screeching across the floor, and walked over to the sticky notes on the fridge. When someone wanted to leave a note, they just wrote on the sticky note. Amelia wrote 'Out 4 a walk. Will brb. Luv u. -Amy' No one bothered to even speak in normal English in her house. Text talk was just so much shorter and easier.
Grabbing her slip on flats and cell phone, Amelia walked out of the door. It was summer in Arizona, so perfect weather for a walk at whatever time it was. What time was it? Amelia slipped her phone out of her pocket and slid it open. It read 4:27. No wonder she was so.... aware. She noticed everything in the early morning and late evening.
Walking down the street, she reached the light. She must have been out for 10 minutes at least now. Waiting for the sign to show the little green guy walking, Amelia rocked back and forth on her heels. "I will never let you fall...I'll stand up with you forever...I'll be there for you through it all... Even if saving you sends me to Heaven," she sang under her breath. When the light finnally said walk, Amelia took a step into the cross walk. she saw head lights farther down the road. Two steps, the headlights were a lot closer. Three steps. 'It'll stop. They always do.' Four steps. The headlights were so close. Five steps. She felt heat, rushing through her body. Then ice creeping through her spine. Then... Nothing. Amelia Jones was dead.
Or was she? She woke up in a white room with a woman in a white robe standing over her. "Welcome to Heaven," the woman said.
