• CHAPTER 153 - GOOD GONE BAD

Everything goes good and dandy until something happens to somebody special.

    .:{{Arisa's Perspective}}:.

"You're going to love everybody, Chi," I smiled as Chi and I sat in the back seat of Kai's car, on the way back to Matsuda and Orihime's.

"They're not going to be rude, are they?" she asked timidly.

"So long as you don't have the hots for anybody, you should be fine," I smiled a little wider.

Chi fondled with her fingers, "What was Kai talking about when he said Kira wasn't well?"

My face fell a little and I sighed, "A couple of weeks ago, he was shot by a Succubus with a Necromantic Hunter gun," I pursed my lips. "A Succubus is a demon who was a human before they died. A Necromantic Hunter is somebody who hunts any and all creatures: Vampires, Werewolves, and Succubi. The hunters have a gun with bullets specially made to kill those creatures easily."

"Oh," Chi looked down. "How is he doing now?"

"He woke up today," I smiled again. "But he's still a little sensitive to the scent of blood. If you see him, be careful not to make any quick or sudden movements."

"We're here," Kai parked the car and looked back at us. "You two talk excessively."

"You would too if you had friends," I teased.

Kai chuckled and adjusted his seat so Chi and I could exit the car. I linked arms with Chi and smiled at her so she would warm up a little bit. She seemed nervous. I wouldn't blame her; she was hardly comfortable with the fact that Kai was a Vampire and everybody else was a different creature. And to top it off, it was the family that kept me while I was kidnapped.

"Matsuda! Orihime! We have a guest!" I shouted exuberantly as we entered the living room. I looked at Chi to my right and she was looking around in awe, probably amazed at how large and elegant the mansion was.

"Oh?" Matsuda descended down the stairs. "Who is she?"

"This is Chi," I smiled, wrapping one arm around Chi's shoulders. "I wanted her to meet everybody."

"She knows about us?" Matsuda furrowed his eyebrows together.

I nodded, "I told her a while ago. But don't worry, you can totally trust her."

    Matsuda smiled, "Welcome, Chi,"

    "Th-thank you," Chi smiled timidly.

"I apologize we kept Arisa from you for so long," Matsuda sighed. "I assume she interpreted everything?"

    Chi nodded, "Yes,"

"Let's go see Kira," I proposed, not wanting to get back onto the subject of the contract. "He's upstairs; follow me."

I grabbed Chi by her hand and dragged her upstairs with Kai following behind us. I knocked on Kira's bedroom door and, before anybody answered, I opened it and walked inside, relieved to see Kira was still awake. Orihime looked over in our direction and she cocked her head, curious.

    "Who is with you, Arisa?"

"My friend Chi," I giggled. "She wanted to meet everybody. Matsuda already knows."

"Hello, Chi," Orihime smiled warmly. If there was somebody who couldn't brighten up to Orhime's smile, they had no point in living. "I was just assisting Kira."

"Arisa has friends!" Kira shouted playfully. "Hallelujah!"

"Shut up," I frowned at him. I pulled Chi into the room a little more so Kai could enter and shut the door. Chi and me walked up to Kira's bedside and I smiled. "This is Chi."

"Well, aren't you cute?" Kira smiled at Chi.

I peeked beside me at Chi and her cheeks flushed to a deep red, "Th-thank you," she paused for a moment. "Um, Arisa told me you've been hurt..."

"Arisa, you deteriorate my many appearance," Kira frowned at me.

"What 'manly appearance' did you even possess?" Kai snorted.

Kira laughed and reached for a large opaque cup on the end table next to him with a straw poking out. As he started sucking through the straw, a thick, dark red liquid crept up the straw, and into Kira's mouth. I instantly knew what it was; blood. He didn't need the tube or the IV bag anymore. He was progressing every minute, it seemed.

I looked back at Kai and pursed my lips, noticing his eyes were still a little red, "Kai, can I talk to you?"

"Alone?" Chi asked, gripping the sleeve of my shirt.

I smiled at her reassuringly, "We won't be long. Take the time to get to know everybody."

"I won't hurt you, Chi," Kira smiled.

"We'll only be a few minutes," I pat Chi's shoulder. I gripped Kai's hand and we started heading out of the bedroom. "Have fun, everybody."

Stepping across the hall to enter Kai's room, Matsuda walked up the stairs and spotted us, "Where's Chi?"

"She's in Kira's room," I pointed. "You should get to know her. I have to talk to Kai."

Kai and I entered Kai's old bedroom and I shut the door behind us. I approached Kai and gripped one of his hands with both of mine. Staring him in the eyes, my worry rose. Kai's eyes were a brilliant red, even though he claimed he fed while I was working. Kai cocked his head to the side, wondering what was wrong.

"Do you need to take more blood from me?" I offered. "Your eyes keep turning red."

"If there's something I need..." Kai smirked, wrapping his arms around my waist and picking me up, "it's a kiss."

I smiled and cupped his face, "I suppose I could settle for that,"

Softly, I pecked him on the lips and gradually laced his hair around my slender fingers. He held me a little closer to him until we landed on the bed. He cupped my face with his hands as well and my hands moved to wrap around his torso. The discussion about his thirst I wanted to talk about had disappeared with the first kiss. I would always lose my train of thought whenever Kai would kiss me.

"Sorry I worry so much," I sighed after another kiss, closing my eyes.

Kai never responded. At least, he never responded verbally. My breathing was cut off and there was a severely uncomfortable pressure around my neck. My eyes snapped open to see Kai holding me down on the bed at arm's length...by my neck. His strong, pale, cold, rough hands were grappled around my throat, suffocating me. I tried to take a breath in to ask what the hell he was doing, but no air was capable of me inhaling. I stared into Kai's eyes; his eyes were a piercing red, almost glowing. His complexion was furious; what did I do?

My adrenaline started kicking in and I clawed at Kai's wrists. I was freaking out; what on earth was Kai trying to do to me? What did I do for him to want to suffocate me? I groaned as his grip tightened and his face hardened a little more. Tears started brimming my eyes and one managed to escape. As though Kai were in a trance, he snapped back into his senses and stared at me. He immediately released his grip on my throat and I turned over, gasping for breath as though it were my last.

"Kai...?" I squeaked, wincing at the pain in my throat.

I looked over at Kai and it was horrible; his complexion had completely changed. Instead of the piercing anger he aimed at me earlier, it was a horrendous pain that he showed. He backed away from me and his red eyes were almost glowing in the darkness. My hands grasped my aching, throbbing throat and I continued to stare at Kai in disbelief.

"Why did...you do that?" I squeaked again, on the verge of crying.

"Arisa, I..." Kai's complexion shifted to panic and he gripped his hair. "I-I have to leave."

Kai left the room quickly and I managed to get up off of the bed. I took a moment to allow my dizziness to pass before I left the room as well. Everybody else was downstairs and they all stared at Kai and me as we descended down the stairs. Kai made his way towards the front door and I followed after him with tears brimming my eyes.

"Kai!" I called out to him as he slammed the front door shut behind him.

As soon as I opened the front door and looked outside, Kai was already in his car and speeding down the road. I dashed out of the house, pathetically hoping I could catch up with him. I needed answers to his behavior; why did he suddenly start suffocating me?

I felt a hand on my shoulder that turned me around and I was greeted by a concerned Matsuda, "Arisa, what's wrong?"

The tears started billowing out of my eyes and my heart was beating erratically, "There's something wrong with Kai,"
