Chapter 1
Kid World
tab A charred landscape lies before me, void of any life. The forest below me is nothing but ash and black skeletons. There is no green at all in the barren landscape which is exactly how it is supposed to be. It is a kingdom of fire and it is my home.
tab The wind is rushing past me, stinging my exposed skin. I love flying even more so now since I have my own Dragon. He is a gift from my father for my 10th birthday, which is today, and I call him Draco. He is still young but is already large enough to ride like I am right now.
tab His large wings are beating steadily to keep us airborne. All is calm in the sky as I enjoy my freedom. This is the best birthday I have ever had and I don’t want it to end.
tab An Earth shaking roar pierces through the noise of the rushing wind and a shadow falls over us. I look up to see a huge Dragon descending on us and a scream quickly follows. My scream is lost to the wind, however, as the other dragon attacks…
tab I jolted awake, drenched in a cold sweat with my heart pounding wildly against my ribs. This wasn’t the first time a good dream had turned into a nightmare. The dream was just one of many fragmented memories that were left from a life I didn’t remember. All I had left from it were pieces of memories that haunted my dreams almost every night now.
tab These memories had only surfaced recently and I had no idea why. Never before had I seen landscapes like those from my dreams in the other worlds I had traveled to. There was not a single bit of charred landscape in any of the known worlds and that bothered me. It meant that there was a world that had yet to be discovered.
tab I had more important things to worry about than my fragmented memories and an undiscovered world that I may have been to before. My heart had stopped pounding by then but I didn’t move. I just lay on my bed, staring at the dark blue ceiling and trying to think of what I was going to do about the imminent war.
tab As the Explorer and protector of the Kid World I was expected to lead the army into battle. The problem was that we were facing the very people we had fled from; the adults. I was to go out and join the troops that day but I was against the war with the adults. My age was close to that of a legal adult and I knew how they would fight.
