• Chapter 1
I opened my eyes to the darkness that covered my room, sweat rolled down my face as I sat up looking around for my alarm clock to see what time it was. Apparently it was five in the morning and school started at seven thirty, great two hours and thirty minutes and I had nothing to do but get out of bed, take a shower, and get dressed.
I sighed and remembered my dream. I was in a dark hallway and I heard someone say my name. I looked around but I didn’t see anyone, I heard the voice again this time it was closer, I looked around franticly and my eye caught the gleam of a knife coming down on my head before I woke up. I shook my head trying -and failing- to forget the image before I went to school. I got out of bed, grabbed a royal blue shirt, black bra with panties, and light washed skinny jeans before heading to the bathroom. Once inside I turned on the shower and started to peel off my Happy Bunny shirt and boxers before stepping into the hot water. As the water hit and reddens my skin, I slowly started to forget my nightmare, I ran my hand through my snow white colored hair and relaxed some. After my shower and putting my clothes on, I went down stairs heading towards the kitchen when I stopped and saw my mom in the living room watching the TV. I walked over to her and sat in the chair that was next to the sofa she was sitting on. I rested my elbow on the arm of the chair and placed my head on my fist looking at my mom with a look that said early much. She looked at me then shrugged “I couldn’t sleep. I see it’s the same with you.”
I nodded some then got up and headed into the kitchen, grabbed a bowl, some cereal then went back into the living room and sat next to my mom on the sofa.
“So what’s new in town?” I asked.
She sighed and moved a little so she was facing me. The expression on her face was sad mixed with a little anger, when she spoke I could feel the small hate in her words “A group of young men were fooling around in the parking lot of the general store and lighting off fire bombs. I tell you some of the men that come to our small town of Black Woods think they can do what ever they like, don’t you agree Violet?”
I looked at her for a seconded then to the TV. My soft blue –they had a hint of purple in them which was pretty cool- eyes scanned the face of the reporter finding a few flaws in his speech until I answered my mom “Men, I’ll never understand them or their ways.”
She laughed a bit then looked at me “same here darling.”
The two hours went by quickly since me and my mom were playing ‘uno’ and when I looked up at the clock that was hanging behind my mom on the wall, I suddenly jumped up and grabbed my school bag.
“Oh my god, it’s already seven, we’ll finfish this game later okay mom.”
“Be careful and don’t forget to bring your home work home. I want to see what you’re learning in school.” she smiled a bit tossing me the keys to the Harley Davidson my dad got me a few months before he went on his busyness trip to India.
I looked at her and smiled some “I’m sixteen, mom; I can remember to bring home my homework with out a reminder.”
She laughed full heartedly walking behind me and stood on the front porch of our ninetieth century home -it’s pretty cool how it over looks the town and the lake- and shouted to me as I got on my Harley “ Remember you’re still sixteen and I worry when you ride that thing Violet, please be careful.”
“Mom, I won’t get hurt, I’ll be bake as soon as school is over, love ya bye.” I shouted back putting the helmet on and starting the motorcycle. I rode down our long drive way slowly the floured it as soon as I was on the road, I stopped at my best friend Saras house and revved my motorcycle a bit telling her to hurry up. She came running out tying up her black hair with a red hair tie.
“I’m coming just hold on a second.”
“Come on princess, we’re gonna be late and I wanted to stop at mama Carla’s to get a mocha laté.” I said handing her the spare helmet.
“Make that two please.” she chimed.
    “Alright. Ready?”
    “Hit it baby doll!”
I rolled my eyes at the name ‘baby doll’ and drove down her drive way back onto the road. We rode for ten minutes stopping at Mama Carla’s to get two mocha latés, after that we sped our way to Black Woods High for our almost done sophomore year –it was already May and I couldn’t wait to get out of school. Sara and I got off my motorcycle and rushed into the school, to our lockers then went our separate paths for the morning. In the after noon we met up in gym - our last class, great- and listened to Mr. Arrow go on about his weekend.
“So when do we get to hit people with balls?” Sara whispered to me.
I shrugged the raised my hand, Mr. Arrow pointed to me “yes miss violet you have a question?”
“Yeah” I said “when do we get to play bombardment?”
He sighed and mumbled something, we all strained to hear what he said but no one got of piece of it. He looked up again then started to split us up into two different teams. Sara and I waved our good luck wave and then I saw her, my elementary school enemy. Her blond hair was tied up and her eye shadow looked incredibly tacky, I breathed her name and my hands turned into fists.
She yelled over “I hope you fall flat on your face violet!”
“Shut the hell up, jasmine heartfelt!” I yelled back.
“Miss. Shadow, I’d watch that mouth of yours.” Mr. Arrowed warned.
“Sorry.” I said though clenched teeth.
Suddenly Sara jogged over to Mr. Arrow then came over to my side “shall we, my darling un-sister deal with Jasmine Heartfelt.”
    I smirked
Mr. Arrow got our vibes and walked over to the large CD player and turned it on. A Rob Zombie song started to play; me and sara looked at each other then at jasmine -who looked more then afraid of us- Super beast filled the gym and Mr. Arrow blew his whistle to start the game. Sara and I sprinted towards the balls -along with the jocks that were on our team- and started to throw them at anyone that got in out line of fire. Jasmine was the first me and Sara got out then a few followed after her.
“Serves the skank right vi!” sara yelled.
“Yes it does.” I said hitting one of the guys in the back. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a ball flying towards me and I quickly dodged it.
“I guess those karate classes do pay off.”
    “Damn right they do!”
Every one on the opposite team started to throw balls at me and I easily dodged them, I caught a few and threw it at another guy. Sara suddenly came up beside me and blocked a ball that I didn’t see.
    “Thanks un-sis.” I said
“No problem” she smirked over her shoulder.
At the end of gym, me and Sara rushed to the locker room to change so we could get home quickly.
“Come on we only have like…four minutes left before the bell rings.” Sara said impatiently.
“Hold on.” I said getting my shirt on.
“Oh by the way, you know that new guy that just moved here from Arizona?” she said with a smile.
“Yeah, what about him?” I asked looking out of the corner of my eye.
“Well I saw him looking at you during gym even though he was aiming at me the whole time. I’m telling you he might be hitting on ya.”
“Or he could have seen me as a huge threat like the others did and need to get you out so I could be made an easier target.”
“Maybe, but still he was looking at you.” she chimed.
I shrugged then grabbed my bag; we excited the locker rooms and waited by the stairs until the bell rang. Jasmine walked by us her nose high in the air as if she wasn’t afraid of me and Sara. We both hissed at the same time and she darted up the stairs. Me and sara laughed along with a few other people -sure jasmine was a pretty girl and sure she hade money and got any guy she wanted, but the one thing she lacked was the confidence to stand up to me and sara when we were in the same room as her. The bell rang and everyone rushed up the stairs to their lockers, me and sara were smart to bring our bags to gym, we walked out the front doors of the school to the parking lot and too our surprise the new guy-tall, had dark brown hair, muscular, wore a white muscle shirt and blue jeans along with black boots- was standing in front of my motorcycle. He looked as if he was amazed by how some one my size -slim, had long legs, not much of a booty or a chest- could hold that thing up without falling. Me and Sara walked over causing him to look up.
We both smiled and he nodded towards my motorcycle “I see you’re the owner of the Harley, tell me how did you get it?”
“It was a present from my dad before he went to India on a busyness trip.” I said proudly.
“I see, and your mother?” he asked looking at me out of the corner of his eyes.
“She paid for the lessons.” I said getting an odd vibe from this guy.
“interesting.” he turned and walked away but not before whispering something into my ear that sent shivers up my spine. “I hope you don’t die on your way home tonight.”
I could feel the twisted smile he wore as he walked away, I got on the motorcycle and started it, Sara put my helmet on my head for me as we slowly pulled out of the parking lot of the school. His words chilled me to the bone and I was thinking of what he meant by them.
