She closed her eyes and soon the welcoming arms of sleep cradled her and she soon found herself snuggled warm in the comforting arms of slumber.
Her eyes shot open. A slight breeze blew in through the window, caressing her thin silk curtains with their cool rolling waves. The bright round moon spotlighted the sky and tiny stars twinkled and danced amongst the dark blue backdrop; glittering in their glimmering and glistening costumes. The moon seemed to mock Serena. Lighting up her quarters as bright as a burning fire ablaze in her bedroom. It taunted her. It lit up every flaw, knook and cranny sneaking about on her bedroom floor; shadowing Serena's comfort.
She walked onto her window balcony and peered up at the moon, she seemed drawn to it. Like it was her friend. She reach out to touch the moon and when she did, the sky rippled as if she had touched the garden pond. She retracted her arm, startled, but as she continued to gaze as the ripples began to mask the sky and echo to it's edges, spreading throughout the whole sky....
Suddenly, she fell and water engulfed her. She struggled to swim and stay afloat but the darkening depths of the ice cold water tugged on her nightgown; dragging her into the abyss. She tried to yell for help but water lapped at her mouth and filled her lungs. She was drowning and now began to panic. Then when she couldn't fight it anymore...
She shot upward! She sat for a moment in bed, contemplating what just happened.
"It was only a dream.." she murmured to herself. "Only a dream.."
Birds were gay singing their merry tunes and the first hint of dawn leaked out golden rays into the sky, bleeding bright yellow and orange while brightening the dark blue to a pretty azure. Serena smiled. "Morning has come."
