• "s**t!" i heard John yell out as i felt the rumble of their approach. the guards around swarmed to defend what was left of our homes. i could almost hear the sounds of our protectors shiver in fear. the sounds of maniacal laughter, from a distance. i covered my head with my hands, hoping it would end quickly. knowing full well it would never end quick. then i heard another footstep. it was oddly heavy, yet light in its own pace. i looked up to see him. he walked with the aire of being important, and on a mission. i could see his silver armor gleamed in the darkness, like a beacon. he slowly walked with his hands at his side. he had blonde hair and black or brown eyes. i couldnt tell because of the darkness. he stopped at my side, and crouched.
"why do you cower, child?" he said softly. his voice was stern, but gentle, like a river.
"because, the're coming to kill us." i replied weakly. my voice caught in my own throat. the sounds of battle erupted, and i could hear the men dieing every second. the man stood, "fear not, little one, for even in darkness, there shall be light, even if the faintest glimor, still a light." he looked down upon me. "might i catch your name?" he asked with a smile. "Elizabeth" i croaked out. "ah. a beautiful name. stay here little one, for i shall return. do you wish to protect your brother?" he asked. i knew he noticed my little brother shivering behind me. "yes." i said to him. "then when i return, take my hand and i shall teach you those ways." he smiled at me one last time, before he looked forward and frowned. he walked past me, with an intense aura of determination about him. as he walked, he reached behind his head and pulled out a silver and white claymore. i took my brother and hid him even better. and then picked up a dagger, and pulled my knees close to me. i closed my eyes and hoped that everything would be fine...

soon there i was, i was younger, and i was with my family. my baby newborn brother in mom's arms... i was dreaming, i noticed. this was before the darkness consumed the world. i was soon shaken awake, and it was the same man as before. "Elizabeth, we must go." he said urgently. i was still half asleep as he picked me up and slung me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. i didnt think properly and i couldnt speak. but i did reach my hand out towards the sack where my little brother was shivering. i could see his beady eye as i was whisked away....
