• CHAPTER 6

About an hour later, Andrea comes back downstairs and sees Father Sinclair and Peter sitting in the living room. She walks up to them and notices the warn out expressions that were on their face.

“How’s Stephanie?”Peter asked, looking up to make eye contact with her.

“She’s fine, she’s sleeping,” Andrea asked, looking around a bit, “Where did Andrew go?”

Peter didn’t answer-he just looked back down and gave out a sigh. Andrea, expecting an answer knew something was wrong, so she turned to Father Sinclair, hoping he had an answer.

“He went outside to take a breather…” Father Sinclair answered for him. Andrea nods and then goes outside to the front porch.

Outside, she sees Andrew standing by the mailbox, smoking a cigarette. She walks up to him.

“How are you holding up?” Andrea asked. Andrew just shakes his head and looks down.

“She’s too dangerous…”Andrew said. Andrea sighs and rolls her eyes.

“Please, not this again,” Andrea said, looking back at the house, “Andrew you can’t just turn your back on them now.”

“I can’t?”Andrew snapped, “How could you even want to help? Look what happened!”

Andrea sighs and says, “Andrew be a man! You’re just too scared, yes I know what happened was tragic, yes I’m scared too, and yes that was probably the worst case scenario! But Father Sinclair is STILL willing to help; we’re all willing to help for what’s best for Stephanie.”

    Andrew rolls his eyes.

“I know what just happened back there was bad,” Andrea continued, “But if there’s ANYTHING Martha, Peter and Stephanie taught me; that’s not to be afraid of anything. Hell, Brandon had even taught me to face my fears to become a better person. Maybe if you were to sit down and take the time to know them you would feel the same.”

That had made Andrew think for a minute; but he didn’t want to end up like Father Nathaniel. Andrew never really took anyone’s advice before anyway; he was always the type of person to just look after himself. Andrew flicks his cigarette into the street and looks at Andrea.

“I understand what you’re trying to say,” Andrew said, “but I think there’s a better way to take care of all of this mess.”

“And what would that be?” Andrea asked, knowing this wasn’t going to get any better. Andrew just walks away, going back into the house.

“Andrew!”Andrea called out. She’s ignored as she watches Andrew go back inside the house.

Inside the house, Andrew walks back into the living room and sees Father Sinclair, standing with Peter.

“Father,”Andrew said,“is it okay if I have a few words with you?”

Peter looked at Andrew; there was something about him that Peter didn’t trust. He didn’t even want Andrew around to help anymore; not that he was helping anyhow. Peter then walks away, going upstairs to check on Stephanie and Martha.

Andrew walks up to Father Sinclair and says, “Father, there has to be an easier way to do this, this is putting everyone in danger!”

“But everyone is willing to put themselves in danger to help someone they love,” Father Sinclair replied, “I can’t leave a nineteen year old girl in here like this.”

“Listen,”Andrew said,“We’ve seen you and Father Nathaniel perform not one, but TWO exorcisms on that girl and nothing had worked.”

“That doesn’t mean we should give up,” Father Sinclair said, putting the small glass bottle of holy water in his pocket, “The power of Christ can heal many things.”

Andrew rolled his eyes and just continued, “As we ALL saw, these demons are very, very powerful. Even killed one of your greatest friends, I know how that feeling is. But I’m saying; I think the best solution as of right now is to…free her soul.”

Father Sinclair paused and looked at Andrew, “Are you implying that we…kill her?”

    Andrew slowly nods.

“Father, listen,”Andrew said, “You’re a priest, I know a lot about ghosts and everything, her soul needs to be freed. Look how she’s living her life, she’s suffering!”

“Have you ever stopped to think; how would Peter and Martha feel? Losing their son a few years ago, now their daughter? They’re literally doing everything they possibly can do save her. How could you even want to think about tearing that apart?”

“It’s for the best, Father!” Andrew exclaimed, “Don’t you see? We’re only making her suffer as of now.”

“It’s worth every pain if she has a fighting chance,” said Father Sinclair, getting a bit frustrated with him, “There’s still a chance that she will make it out of this whole mess okay.”

“How long is she going to fight for?” Andrew snapped, “This could take days; weeks or months! How long is she going to fight? Are we waiting until she kills everyone else?”

“You haven’t even performed an exorcism before, Andrew,” Father Sinclair said,“An exorcism with God as my witness, and with everyone still fighting alongside with Stephanie…shouldn’t even take long.”

Andrew stands there in silence, trying to find anything to say that will change Father Sinclair’s mind, but nothing was coming up.

“Killing her would be like taking the easy way out.” Father Sinclair added, “As long as I’m here, that’s never going to be an option…and I never give up.”

Father Sinclair then walks up the stairs so he can have a talk with Peter and Martha about what they will do next. All what was going through Andrew’s mind was how dangerous Stephanie is and how he didn’t want to be around her. He walks into the kitchen, and starts walking in circles just thinking, and thinking. He’s never been so scared before in his life. He then thought to himself; ‘She’s way too dangerous.’ That got into his head. He opens up a kitchen drawer where all the silverware is. He grabs a large kitchen knife and stares at it. He thought by doing this, he’d be doing everyone a favor. With the field he works in; all what was going through his mind was that she would be a free spirit, with no more suffering.

He hears Andrea walk in the house, then hurrying up the stairs. From upstairs, Andrea walks in and sees everyone walking to the door, ready to leave.

    “Is everything okay?”She asked.

“Yeah, everything is fine,” said Peter, “Martha just wanted to…pay her respects to Father Nathaniel before we do anything else.”

“I feel like it’s necessary…I think we should all do it.” Martha suggested.

“Yeah, I feel the same way.” Andrea agreed, “What are we going to do after?”

“Well, we’re going to need to rest. The next day I will try my best to do whatever it takes for Stephanie to be better.” Father Sinclair said, looking back at Stephanie who was sound asleep. “Poor girl…she will be okay.”

They all head downstairs and to the basement. Andrea spots Andrew in the kitchen and walks up to him.

“We’re all going to pay our respects to Father Nathaniel…do you want to join us?” Andrea asked.

“Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute.” Andrew replied. Andrea smiled and headed down to the basement with everyone else. Once Andrew was alone, he looked at the knife in his hand for a second time. Now would be the time to do it. Since everyone was in the basement, he thought this would be his only chance to end everything. Andrew looks up at the ceiling and grips the knife in his hand.

Outside, right next to where Father Nathaniel is buried, Martha does the sign of the cross and kneels down next to the cross they had made out of sticks. She closes her eyes, and starts to pray. Andrea and Peter watch as silence is filling the area.

“Father…”Martha whispered quietly with her eyes still closed, “I’m…so sorry…”she looked at his corpse again and rested her hand on his chest. “Thank you…for everything.” She rises and does the sign of the cross again. Father Sinclair bows his head and starts praying, as Peter and Andrea do the same.

“He really did try…” Martha said to herself, “I’m so grateful he never quit on us.”

Peter lifts up his head and hugs Martha. They both were feeling sort of guilty that Father Nathaniel had died because of what was happening, but they also knew that if Father Nathaniel were alive as of right now, he would still be trying to help.

“Don’t feel guilty, Martha,” Father Sinclair said, “If it were me lying there instead of him…I know he would tell us the same exact thing I’ve been telling you guys.”

Peter and Martha both smiled. They knew Father Sinclair was a great man, and they were very grateful there were no grudges held against them.

Stephanie’s door creeped open and Andrew slowly walks in with the knife in his hand. He looks at Stephanie lying in bed, sound asleep. But when she woke up, who knows what could happen. Andrew slowly walks to her bedside and looks around the room. All the furniture hasn’t been fixed or moved ever since he saw Stephanie’s first exorcism. He took a good close look at Stephanie and noticed she was looking a little bit too thin.

“Stephanie…”he said,“I’m sure you’re a strong girl and everything…but you killed a priest.” He was saying all of this as if Stephanie could hear him,“You’re putting your parents…the priest, everyone in danger.”

He griped the knife tighter into his hand. Andrew takes a few deep breathes and begins again, “I know you don’t mean any harm…but that’s all you’ve been bringing.” He lifts up the knife, “I’m not going to end up like Father Nathaniel…I can’t. Everyone should be thanking me for this…I’ll be the one to make it easier, and I’ll set your soul free.”

He looks at Stephanie, with the knife over his head, ready to stab her. He was about to kill a young girl, who’s been fighting for her life ever since she was a little child. What would Peter and Martha think when they see this? They have been so desperate for all these years, and it was all going to come down to this.

Stephanie’s one eye slowly begins to open, and she sees a shadowy figure standing before her. She then sees that Andrew had the knife, ready to stab her. Stephanie’s eyes widens as Andrew goes to attack, but he is suddenly tackled by Peter, to the ground. Stephanie screams and quickly gets up from the bed.

“Stephanie!”Martha exclaimed, running to her. Father Sinclair and Andrea rush in and sees Peter and Andrew fighting on the floor. Peter then manages to punch Andrew right in the eye, then in the nose making it bleed.

“Don’t you ever come near my daughter again!!” Peter yelled. Andrea hurries and tries pulling Peter off of him.

    “Peter! That’s enough!”Andrea said.

Martha runs and helps Andrea get Peter off and they do so.

“How is that enough?” Peter exclaimed, “You saw what you’re crazy cousin was about to do, he was about to kill my daughter!”

“Your daughter should be killed before she kills any of us next!” Andrew yelled back as Andrea was keeping a distance between both Peter and Andrew.

“I hope she kills you next, you have no right to even go in her room!” Peter yelled, as Martha was trying to back Peter up.

“See? See what I mean? People like you don’t deserve any help!” Andrew yelled,“Your daughter deserves what’s coming to her!”

Peter escapes Martha’s grip and goes to attack Andrew again, but Andrea keeps the distance and Stephanie is crying on the bed.

“Get Andrew out of here, Andrea please!” Martha said, as she went to sit next to Stephanie.

“Andrew, come on,”Andrea said, trying to lure him out the room.

“They deserve what’s coming to them!” Andrew yelled.

“Get him out of this damn room!” Peter yelled loudly. Andrea and Andrew leave the room and Father Sinclair enters the room, closing the door behind him. Martha is comforting Stephanie and Peter hurries to Stephanie’s side.

“Are you okay?”Peter asked. She nods slowly, and wipes a tear from her face. Father Sinclair is watching, feeling a deep sympathy for the family.

“Wh-what is he talking about?” Stephanie asked Martha, confused on what was happening, “Why was he about to stab me? What did I do?” Tears filled Stephanie’s eyes.

Martha just hugged Stephanie and said, “You didn’t do anything Stephanie…don’t worry about it. We’re not going to let anything happen to you.”

Downstairs, Andrea had moved Andrew to the kitchen.

“What the hell was that?” Andrea exclaimed, “What was that? What we’re you thinking? You know how much she means to everyone!”

“You don’t get it, do you?” Andrew said, “This was going to make everything better!”

“Andrew, I don’t even think anyone wants you here anymore,” Andrea said, almost in tears, “You just refuse to understand, and you know what? I don’t even want you to understand!”

“Do you want to end up like Father Nathaniel? Do you want this girl to kill you herself? Oh yeah, that’s really caring about the family!” Andrea exclaimed.

“It’s not her doing all of this,” Andrea said, “My God, you know what happened upstairs! She’s being possessed! You know what that means don’t you?”

“Yes Andrea, I do this kind of stuff for a living!” Andrew yelled, “I just can’t stand the fact that you’re my cousin, and you’re being put in danger because of her! I don’t want anything to happen to you or me!”

Andrea had to stop and think for a minute. They both had a close relationship ever since they were kids. Andrew never acted like this, Andrea didn’t know if it was just to protect her or if he was just too shocked. This experience may have been too much for Andrew, but he was handling it all in the wrong ways. What they were witnessing was not only very scary, but very dangerous.

“Andrew listen,”Andrea started, “I know you’re trying to look out for me or yourself…but I know what I’m doing. I’m all grown up; I can make my own decisions. I had already made a promise to Stephanie and I had told her no matter what happens, I’m going to be here for her. If that means putting my life on the line, I will do it.”

Andrew looked at Andrea; he knew she was very attached to Stephanie and her family.

“Not only that,”Andrea began again, “When Brandon was very sick…he asked, if anything were to happen to him, to look after Stephanie. Ever since the day he died, I have stayed true to that promise. Just because my life is on the line does not mean I’m going to quit. Andrew, not only did I promise, but Peter and Martha had also promised both Brandon and Stephanie they would do whatever it takes. They never quit…”

Andrew took a minute to take in what Andrea had just said. He realized how much the family meant to her. He slowly walks to Andrea and gives her a tight hug.

“I’m so sorry, I…” Andrew almost choked on his words.

“Don’t worry about it.” Andrea said, taking deep breaths, “I know you were just trying to protect me but…don’t put Stephanie in danger like that again…please.”

He nods and lets her go, taking a step back.

“If there’s any way I could help…please let me know.” Andrew said. She smiles and nods, “Okay.”

Andrew finally understood how strong of the bond they had with Stephanie. When he was little he never really had anyone that close before, besides from Andrea. He thought in his head that if Andrea were going through the same thing; he wouldn’t want anyone trying to kill her either. That would’ve been a very selfish act, he thought to himself. Andrew was still very grateful that she was forgiving, and he hoped that Peter would be forgiving as well.

Peter, Martha and Father Sinclair leave Stephanie’s room and they all walk downstairs. Andrea rushes to Peter and tries pulling him to the side so she can talk to him about Andrew. They both go to the family room.

“Listen Peter,”Andrea began, “I’m very sorry about how Andrew reacted, and-“

“You’re not the one who has to be sorry,” Peter interrupted, “You’re not the one who tried killing Stephanie. I don’t even want him in this house.”

“Just hear me out,” Andrea said, “He’s real sorry about the whole thing and he was just looking out for me. He felt like he didn’t have a choice.”

Peter looked over to the other side of the house, where Martha, Father Sinclair and Andrew were. He saw Martha asking if they wanted coffee or not. He then made eye contact with Andrew, and he quickly turns away, paying his attention to Father Sinclair. Peter looks back at Andrea and says, “I want to hear an apology from him…”

That scared Andrea a bit, when Peter got mad, she knew how ugly it could really get.

“Okay,”Andrea said,“But just know that…he wants to help.” Andrea makes her way to the living room, approaching Andrew. Peter is watching from the family room, and he sees that Andrew takes a deep breath and nods his head. It looks like he was agreeing to whatever Andrea was telling him. He sees that they both hug and Andrew starts walking towards Peter, as Andrea sits across from Father Sinclair. Martha asks if she wants any coffee, but from the distance, Peter heard Andrea say no. Andrew slowly walks up to Peter and they make eye contact. Andrew takes a really deep breath.

“I’m very sorry…for what I tried to do,” Andrew said, “I guess I was just scared, and I didn’t want anything bad to happen to me or Andrea. She’s probably the closest family member I have, and if anything were to happen to her…”

Andrew didn’t want to finish the sentence; he didn’t even want to think about if Andrea were in Father Nathaniel’s position.

“Look,”Peter began,“I know where you’re coming from. When Brandon had strokes and bad illness from the cancer, he would go unconscious. The nurses and doctors had asked us if they wanted us to…pull the plug. Martha and I had always rejected it; we wanted Brandon to have a fighting chance.”

Andrew was paying attention, real closely. Peter continued, “He was suffering though. Brandon was suffering a lot, and Stephanie had to witness that a few times as well. That’s what tore us apart, we didn’t know whether to let Brandon go, or to see if he could move on, fighting for his life. The thing is, Brandon was always a lover, and he was always a fighter. But the cancer got the best of him until one day…he shut down.”

Hearing this story was breaking Andrew’s heart. Peter continued, “Stephanie has a lot of strength. More than she knows. We had always told her that from the start, she’s going through the exact same thing Brandon went through. Yes, she complains, yes she loses hope at times, but she does hang in there. Stephanie is a lover, we had never seen her fight this much in a while, that’s why she finds it difficult to stay strong. Me and Martha only have one child left, who’s on the urge of dying, you need to understand that we refuse to let her go.”

A long pause filled the room. From across the family room, Andrea turns her head to look at Peter and Andrew. She then studies them, as the look on Andrew’s face showed a lot of sympathy.

“I’m so sorry…”Andrew apologized again. He would’ve felt terrible if he had done what he was going to do. If he killed Stephanie, who would continue the generation of the Lewis family?

“We have prepared for the worst though,” Peter continued, “Stephanie’s grave stone is set right next to Brandon’s. It’s not engraved yet, but we need to be prepared for whatever happens. Yes, Stephanie is suffering, and yes what is happening is very dangerous, but all of us here are putting our lives on the line for her. Hell, I know Brandon would take a bullet for his little sister any day. We’re helping her knowing what the consequences can be. As a father, I would do anything for her, and that brings a lot of hope. Losing hope is just one of the most horrible things that can happen.”

Andrew finally realized how strong everyone had to be to help her. He wanted to help as well; he wanted to be there for the support, that’s exactly what the family needed.

“Peter,”Andrew said,“I can stay for the support…I want to stay for the support if you let me. I know what I did was wrong, but, I feel like your family needs all the help they can get.”

He thought for a minute then gave off a smile. “Alright…just, be on our side.”Peter said. He was saying that he didn’t Andrew to cause any trouble, but he didn’t want to be that straight forward. They walk back to the living room and Andrew sits next to Andrea. He smiles at her, a gesture saying that everything went well. Martha comes back in the living room and goes to Peter.

“Is everything okay?”Martha asked. Peter nods and gives Martha a hug. Father Sinclair clears his throat and begins, “Listen, Peter and Martha. I feel like we need to talk about how we’re going to handle with Stephanie.”

Everyone turns their attention to him. Peter and Martha stand next to the wall, right beside where Andrea is sitting.

“As you can see, what we’re dealing with is very dangerous…unfortunately, Father Nathaniel had to learn the hard way,” Father Sinclair said, “The demons are not only looking to attack Stephanie, but they also seek harm to who love her most…and that would be all of you. I think it would be better, for the sake of everyone here…if we have Stephanie’s arms tied to the bed.”

Those words had chills going up everyone’s spine. Martha didn’t want to do it, but she knew that it was for the safety for everyone.

“The last thing we need is someone else to die…especially if Stephanie does make it through this.” Father Sinclair said. Peter and Martha nod.

“Father, what do you think we should do in the meantime?” Martha asked.

“Well, we can wait to resume everything tomorrow.” Father Sinclair answered,“We will set up everything and I will try my best to make sure that we’re well prepared. The demons don’t come out until after ten o’clock, for sure.”

“Andrea and Andrew, would you like to stay in Brandon’s room?” Peter asked. Andrea was hesitant at first; she hadn’t been in it for a few years. Andrew looks at Andrea, knowing how she might feel about sleeping in there. Andrea nods, and looks at Peter and Martha.

“Yeah, we’ll sleep there…so we have more room.” Andrea said.

“Come on, Peter, would you mind helping me with Stephanie?” Father Sinclair asked. Peter nods and they both head upstairs, toward Stephanie’s room.

Martha escorts Andrew and Andrea up to Brandon’s bedroom. Andrea slowly opens the door and steps inside, looking all around. His bed was still neatly made, like he always used to make it every day. The posters were a bit dusty, and so were the desk and office chair. His video game console hasn’t been touched either. Andrea’s eyes begin to tear and she looks over to the desk and sees a picture of her and Brandon on their first year anniversary. Brandon’s arm around Andrea’s, both very happy just to be spending the day with each other. She’ll never forget the simple times, like getting ice cream after school, going to prom together, or just going to the movies together. Martha is watching right next to the doorway, and Andrea picks up the picture. She saw the picture, and remembered what they were doing on their anniversary just like it was yesterday; out on the beach during the sunset.

Tears roll down Andrea’s cheek, onto the picture. She brings the picture to her lips, and she kisses the picture, crying softly. Andrew goes up to her from behind and hugs her tightly. She turns around and hugs back, trying her best to keep the tears in, but she just couldn’t anymore. Martha then leaves the doorway, tearing a little bit.

“It’s okay, Andrea...”Andrew reassured. She nods and puts the picture back on the desk.

Martha walks by Stephanie’s room and sees that Father Sinclair is tying Stephanie’s arms to the bed posts. Stephanie is deeply asleep, so it was a lot easier for them to get that over and done with. Peter and Father Sinclair leave Stephanie’s room and they shut the door behind them.

“Father, you can sleep in our room if you want, me and Martha can go downstairs.” Peter suggested. Father Sinclair shook his head. “No, I’ll sleep downstairs…just make sure you’re prepared tomorrow; anything can happen. But…let us pray, for Stephanie to fight and beat this battle.” He suggested.

“Let’s.”Martha agreed. They all close their eyes and Father Sinclair starts saying a prayer, very softly.

Stephanie, in her room starts to move around a bit, sweating. She’s waking up, but is hearing voices in her head. She breathes more rapidly, with her eyes still closed, hearing deep voices that she couldn’t understand. The furniture starts to shake a little bit, and Stephanie’s eyes widen as she heard a demon yell from inside her head. Her eyes slowly begin to turn white and blood slowly drips from her eyes and ears.

Late at night, Peter is awakened by loud thuds from Stephanie’s room. He sits up in bed, and looks at the wall, where the thudding was coming from. He hears it again, which makes him jump.

“Martha..?”He called out seeing if she was awake. Martha was still asleep; he didn’t want to wake her up. He hears the thud again, but this time it was a little bit louder. He heard Stephanie muttering from the other side.

“Stephanie…”Peter said to himself. He gets out of bed and leaves the bedroom. He walks to Stephanie’s bedroom door, and tries to listen what’s going on, from her bedroom. A loud thud is heard again. He was afraid to open the door, he didn’t know if Stephanie was being possessed or not, and Father Sinclair was asleep. Peter swallowed and took his chances. He placed his hand on the doorknob and slowly opened the door.

Stephanie’s room was very dark. He looked around and sees Stephanie had escaped the bed, from being tied. The bed sheets that were used to tie her arm were untied. Did someone let Stephanie escape? He then sees Stephanie in the far corner of the room, kneeling down. Peter slowly walks in the room, walking toward her. Stephanie punches the wall with both fists, and then moves her head down to the ground. There was an unpleasant smell coming from that side of the room.

“Stephanie…?”Peter softly called out. Stephanie didn’t turn around, or anything. She was muttering something, and punched both the walls again, her knuckles began to bleed. Peter then sees that Stephanie was muttering and eating black widows from her corner. Stephanie kneels down again and licks her own urine from the floor, muttering demon words, her eyes and ears still full with blood. There’s scratch marks on the walls, and there was blood dripping from the corner of the wall as well.

“Stephanie…!”Peter cried out. Stephanie pauses for a minute, then quickly turns her neck to Peter, cracking it, her eyes glowing white.

“Oh my God..!”Peter yelled out. The door slams shut and locks as Stephanie starts laughing maniacally, her voice screeching, raspy and very loud. She slowly stands up, blood dripping out of her mouth. Peter stares at Stephanie; he had never seen anything so evil before, this wasn’t her at all. Stephanie slowly walks toward Peter, with her legs cracking and breaking with each step. She laughs louder, holding a crucifix in her hand. It was very sharp at the end. Peter turns and tries opening the door but the door is jammed shut, and wouldn’t open. The lock wouldn’t even turn.

Martha is awakened by the laugh. She turns to the side and doesn’t see Peter lying in the bed. She quickly gets up and leaves the room. She gets out to the hallway and she sees Andrea and Andrew come out to the hallway.

“Martha, did you hear that?” Andrea asked, a bit startled. They suddenly hear a loud screech from Stephanie’s room, which makes Andrea jump and scream a bit. Martha tries opening the door, but it’s jammed shut.

“Stephanie…??”She bangs on the door, “Stephanie, open this door!”

Peter, from inside the room, hears Martha.

“Martha, stay back! Don’t come in!” Peter yelled. Stephanie’s eyes turned glassy and she was getting closer and closer, but Peter wasn’t moving.

“Oh my God…Peter!!”Martha bangs on the door harder, “Peter open the door! Please!”

“Stay back, Martha, keep everyone away!” Peter yelled out.

Andrea’s eyes fill with tears and Andrew quickly runs downstairs, to Father Sinclair, who’s just getting up from Martha yelling.

“Father!”Andrew called out, rushing to him, “You have to come up here quick, something is happening…!”

Father Sinclair quickly grabs his bible and hurries with Andrew.

From inside the bedroom, Stephanie hisses at Peter. She was being possessed by a very strong spirit. She was inching closer, and closer, her bones breaking every time she walked, but yet she still walks.

“Stephanie est iens video vidi visum suus daddy verus nunc. Res cruciatus in abyssus pro totus of infinitio!!” (Translation: Stephanie is going to see her daddy very soon…being tortured in hell for all of eternity!) the words shouted out of Stephanie.

Andrew and Father Sinclair hurries up the stairs and to Stephanie’s bedroom door.

“Martha, move to the side!” Father Sinclair said. Martha goes to Andrea, sobbing.

“Peter, what’s going on?” Father Sinclair yelled out, “Hurry and open this door, it’s too dangerous to be in the same room as her!”

Inside the bedroom, Peter and Stephanie are locking eyes with each other. Peter knew it was not his daughter acting so evil.

“Give me back my daughter…!” Peter yelled out. The furniture starts to shake as the lights blink on and off. Stephanie then starts laughing maniacally, screeching. She slowly turns to Peter and hisses at him.

“She's in abyssus. quod you're iens iungo Suus!” (Translation: She’s in hell…and you’re going to JOIN HER!) she yelled out, as she raised the very sharp crucifix and started toward him.

From behind Stephanie’s door, Peter hears Martha, Father Sinclair and Andrew trying to break down the door but nothing was working.

Peter then runs to Stephanie and wraps his arms around her, from behind. Stephanie screeches and moves all around the place. She backs up to the wall, slamming Peter into it. He grunts, but doesn’t let his grip go.

“Peter!”Martha yelled sobbing, “Open the door!”

“Peter, what are you doing??” Andrew yelled out.

Andrea is in the corner, crying to herself watching in complete shock. They all had no idea what was going on in the other room but whatever it was, it definitely couldn’t have been good.

Stephanie screeches more, almost like a zombie and forces Peter to slam into the drawers, knocking everything down. The glass from the lamps and mirror scraped up his back. He grunted a bit, but still wouldn’t let go of Stephanie. Stephanie then forces him to slam into the wall again. He still wouldn’t let go, and blood dripping from Stephanie’s eyes, ears and mouth was dripping faster, and it was getting on him as well.

From outside the bedroom, Andrew is trying to knock down the door, shouldering it.

“Peter, what’s going on??” Martha cried.

“Come on!”Andrew exclaimed, “Open this door!”

Stephanie roars as Peter pulls back and he falls on his back, still gripping to Stephanie. She screeches and begins yelling Satanist threats to him.

    “Stephanie, come back!”Peter exclaimed.

From outside the bedroom, Andrew goes into Brandon’s room and picks up a lamp. Andrea watches in terror as Martha is crying, pleading Peter to open the door. Andrew comes back with the lamp.

“Everybody, move away from the door!” Andrew yelled. He had the lamp and was ready to break down the door. Andrew goes and slams the lamp into the door, but the door still wouldn’t budge.

From inside the bedroom, Stephanie is getting more and loose from Peter’s grip. He’s trying with all of his strength to keep Stephanie from doing harm until the demon inside of her gives up. He couldn’t believe how much strength she had. She then manages to move her hand to have more room, raises the crucifix, and stabs Peter three times on the leg. Peter yells out of pain, but is still trying to hold onto Stephanie. She laughs maniacally and starts to stab his knee and leg repeatedly, stabbing and stabbing over and over. Everyone trying to get in the room heard the yell, which worried them all. Andrew couldn’t think of another way to break down the door faster.

“Peter!”Martha yelled,“Open the door! Please, what’s going on??” She cried out, crying. Andrea runs over to Martha and hugs her tightly. Father Sinclair starts yelling out a prayer, hoping the demon possessing Stephanie will flee.

“We drive you from us, whoever you may be, unclean spirits, all satanic powers, all infernal invaders, all wicked legions, assemblies and sects!!” Father Sinclair yelled out. From inside the bedroom, Stephanie lets out a roar and screech. She yells and screams, but Peter noticed it sounded like Stephanie’s scream. She was trying to fight the demon out of her.

“Offer our prayers to the Most High, that without delay they may draw His mercy down upon us; take hold of the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit that he may no longer seduce the nations!!” Father Sinclair yelled out. The house begins to shake a bit and Andrew notices shadows zooming past the walls.

Inside the bedroom, Stephanie roars and breaks free from Peter’s grip. She looks at him, still possessed by the terrible demon. They lock eyes again and Stephanie starts to raise her crucifix slowly.

Martha is crying near the wall, and Andrea is trying to comfort her, crying as well. Andrew tries breaking down the door again, with all of his strength. The door just wouldn’t budge.

“St…Steph…Stephanie…”Peter said quietly. Stephanie screeches and starts to stab Peter repeatedly in the chest and stomach. Blood splatters throughout the whole room as Stephanie is laughing maniacally, blood splatters all over her face. The only man left in her life; being murdered by a demon. Peter’s eyes close, he was losing a lot of blood.

From outside the bedroom, Andrew was trying again, and the door was breaking a bit.

    “Come on!”Andrew yelled out.

“Peter, we’re coming!”Martha yelled out, hoping nothing bad was happening to him. Father Sinclair closed his eyes and does the sign of the cross.

Stephanie is repeatedly stabbing Peter over and over again. She then slices Peter’s neck and watches the blood spill out from the wound. She smirks very evil and sees that Peter is slowly dying right in front of her. Her own father; slowly dying, murdered by the demon possessing her. The one that had tried so hard to be there for Stephanie; slowly dying right in front of her.

Andrew breaks the door even more and then busts it open.

“Peter??”Andrew called out. Martha, Andrea and Father Sinclair enter the room. All they see is blood splattered everywhere; however they do not see Stephanie or Peter.

“Peter…?”Martha called out. There was no respond. The room was very quiet and darker than usual. Martha suddenly spots Peter’s corpse right by the dresser.

“Oh…Oh…Oh my God…!!”Martha exclaimed. She rushes to Peter’s body and kneels beside him. Andrew quickly kneels beside him too.

“Is he breathing??”Martha asked, tears rolling down her face. Andrew starts to check his pulse. Andrea and Father Sinclair watch, in total fear and shock. Martha looks down and sees her husband’s corpse, in a pool of blood. She notices all the stab wounds and his neck slit. She couldn’t believe what was happening; she lost her son, almost lost her daughter; she couldn’t bear to lose her husband. The man that had always lifted her up when she was down; the man that stayed with the family no matter how complicated things were, the man who had asked Martha to be his partner forever.

After a short minute, Andrew looks at Martha.

“Martha…”Andrew said, not knowing what else to say. Martha looked into Andrew’s eyes and immediately knew what happened. Peter is dead.

“No…no…!!”Martha cried. She then leans down to hug Peter’s body, crying softly. Andrea begins to cry, covering her mouth and goes to kneel beside Martha. Father Sinclair watches, seeing how badly she was hurting at the moment. He had noticed how close they were and they had been very committed to each other.

Martha sobs and leans closer to Peter’s body. She wipes some tears off her face, and stares into Peter’s lifeless eyes.

“Peter…”Martha said to herself softly. Andrew looks down, feeling very bad for her. Martha had lost her husband; the one who fought by her side ever since the beginning. Meeting at the young teenage life and started their life together before adulthood.

She stares at him, thinking about the times they spent together, what they shared, planning their children’s birthday parties, getting married, the pity arguments they used to have, she even remembers when Peter proposed to her.

Martha closes her eyes and leans down slowly to kiss Peter’s lips very gently. Andrea weeps softly next to Martha, and hugs her. Father Sinclair walks up to Peter’s body and does the sign of the cross over his chest.

As they all grieve over Peter, they hear a raspy giggle in the corner of the room. Everyone turns to see Stephanie in the corner, laughing to herself, with blood splattered all over the corner of the wall behind her. Everyone jolts up and moves back.

“Stephanie…”Father Sinclair called out. He steps forward and makes eye contact with her. She gives off a very mean grin and spits out blood. Martha slowly walks forward, next to father Sinclair.

    “That’s not Stephanie…”Martha said quietly, “that’s a monster…”

Andrea grabs hold of Andrew’s arm, in shock and moves behind him.

Martha takes one step closer to Stephanie but she yells and bangs on the wall. She was warning them not to come any closer.

Father Sinclair takes Martha’s hand and gently pulls her back.

“Martha, it’s best to stay away.” Father Sinclair said, “It’s not safe.”

    “Why?”Martha asked, turning to him.

Father Sinclair and Stephanie lock eyes.

    “I’m sensing something…extremely evil…” Father Sinclair said.

Stephanie starts banging on the walls with her elbows, making holes in them. Everyone backs up, watching frightened, as Stephanie jumps up, landing on her two feet and growling at them.

“It’s not safe here…” Father Sinclair said.

Stephanie’s long nails start scratching the walls and she gives off a very cold stare at Martha, Father Sinclair, Andrew and Andrea.

“We have to go…!” Andrew said, panicking.

Everyone starts walking backwards slowly to the door, but Stephanie starts yelling and knocks the dresser down.

    “Christ…”Andrea said.

    “Go! Go!”Andrew yelled.

Everyone turns and runs out the room and they hear Stephanie chasing them from behind. They start running downstairs as Stephanie is crawling very fast on the walls, making a blood trail from her mouth. They reach the first floor, Andrew and Andrea head for the back door as Martha and Father Sinclair head for the living room. Martha looks back and sees Stephanie’s eyes glowing white, crawling after them on the ceiling, upside-down.

Father Sinclair and Martha are cornered in the living room. Stephanie jumps down, and lands on her feet, and places her hands on the floor. Stephanie and Martha exchange looks; Martha sees how dangerous the demon inside Stephanie was.

Father Sinclair looks at Stephanie and slowly steps forward. Stephanie quickly turns her head to Father Sinclair and starts muttering words very quietly; almost whispering. Martha takes a few steps back, still in shock.

    “Stephanie…”Father Sinclair started.

She snaps her neck to the side, and smirks at him.

Andrea and Andrew slowly make their way towards the living room where everyone else is. Stephanie starts to laugh and she slowly starts turning her head. Cracking is heard as she’s turning her head but not moving her body.

Martha shutters in the corner as Andrew and Andrea back up to the wall.

“My God…”Andrew said under his breath.

Stephanie then quickly turns her head to Martha, as they hear her neck snap again.

“Martha, stand clear.”Father Sinclair said. He then takes out his holy water and starts sprinkling it on Stephanie. She then starts to scream and she falls down on her knees.

“Eternal God, Who has redeemed the race of men from the captivity of the devil, deliver Thy servant from all the workings of unclean spirits…” Father Sinclair began.

Stephanie’s eyes close and she starts banging on the floor, screeching. He sprinkles Holy Water on her again.

“Command the evil and impure spirits and demons to depart from the soul and body of your servant and not to remain nor hide in her!!!” Father Sinclair yelled.

Stephanie then puts her hands over her ears and starts screaming. Her voice suddenly becomes a lot deeper as she screams. Andrea covers her mouth and cries softly and Andrew hugs to comfort her.

The lights start blinkering on and off and furniture starts to shake.

"Is vulnero...it's caedes mihi...sanctus phasmatis...es quoque...quoque validus..!" (translation: 'It hurts...it's killing me...holy spirits are too...too...strong!" wink Stephanie weeped out, choking up the words. It sounded as if the demon inside her was slowly beginning to die.

"Be gone demon!!" Father Sinclair yelled, sprinkling more Holy Water on her. Stephanie yells deeply and bangs her fists on the floor until they start to bleed. She rips out her hair and bangs on the floor even harder, cracking the floor and breaking it a bit. Stephanie then jumps up and pushes Father Sinclair back to the wall. He slams against the wall, grunts from pain.

"Father!" Andrew yelled, running to him.

"Vos mos nunquam pello pepulli pulsum Omnipotens Diabolus! Is mos subsisto procul nusquam crucio suus animus forever!!" (translation: ("You will never beat the Almighty Devil! He will stop at nothing to torture her soul forever!!" wink Martha is too shocked and she leans her back against the wall and slides down to the floor, her eyes wide open watching all this horror unfold in front of her.

Father Sinclair gets up as fast as he can and he sees that Stephanie's nails start to grow longer and sharper. She growls as her eyes start glowing more. She roars and blood starts dripping from her mouth.

"Si vos mos retineo mihi take suus..." (translation: If you will not let me take her...) The words slowly whispered out of Stephanie's mouth, "...EGO mos vis is!!!" (translation: ...I will force it!!) Stephanie's hand suddenly rises and she quickly slices her whole fore arm from the palm of her hand with two nails. She lets out a very loud screech and a roar combined. Blood starts pouring out of her arm and drips on the floor.

"Stephanie, no!!" Andrew yelled out. Andrea jumps, and closes her eyes, covering her mouth, as she tries her best fighting back tears. Stephanie then slowly starts to slice her stomach. Before she can finish, Andrew runs toward her and grabs both of her hands; keeping her from slicing herself even more.

Stephanie roars in Andrew's face and spits blood right in his eyes. She laughs maniacally, but Andrew still keeps a very strong grip.

"Andrea! Grab one of her arms! Her strength is too strong!" Andrew yelled out, refusing to open his eyes, to keep any from getting in his eyes. Andrea hesitates at first but then runs and grabs Stephanie's left arm and holds it back.

Father Sinclair sprinkles more Holy Water on Stephanie. "Condemned Spirit, you are not worthy of the soul you seek to harm! You aren't worthy of taking a soul to keep!"
Stephanie roars and she falls on the floor, on her back, bringing Andrew and Andrea down with her. They both still have a firm grip and Andrea pins Stephanie's arm against the floor.

Martha is still watching in total shock, her body starts to shiver as she feels herself getting cold and sweaty a bit.

"By the Power of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the Power of the Guardian Angels from Heaven, I demand that you be gone evil spirit!" Father Sinclair yelled. Stephanie suddenly starts to puke blood. The demon inside of her lets out one final screech and it slowly dies down and the screech fades away. Stephanie's eyes close and silence begins to fill the room.

Andrew and Andrea let go of Stephanie's arms. Andrew wipes the blood off his eyes with his sleeve and Andrea hurries to his side.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Andrea asked, hugging him.

"I'm okay Andrea, thankyou." He answered. Father Sinclair walks to Stephanie's body and checks her pulse.

Andrea looks back and asks, "Is she okay?"

"She's still alive...." Father Sinclair said, "Her body just needs alot of rest. Someone help me wrap some bandages or something around her arm."

Andrew gets up and goes into the kitchen to get something to wrap Stephanie's arms with. Martha slowly stands up, still extremely shocked, not only because of what happened to Stephanie, but because she's having trouble accepting the fact she had just lost Peter.

Andrea and Father Sinclair look at Martha.

"Martha..." Andrea said, walking towards her, but Martha just starts crying and leaves the room. They both watch her as she walks up the stairs, crying. They could tell she was trying to hold back from breaking down in front of everyone.

"Martha..!" Andrea said, starting after her.

"No." Father Sinclair said. Andrea stops and turns around to look at him.

"But...she needs our help. She's so close to losing everything..." Andrea said, she felt real bad for her.

"That's exactly why she just needs some time alone..." Father Sinclair said. Andrew comes back with some bandages he found in the first aid kid they used earlier. He kneels beside Stephanie and wraps the bandages around her wrist, working his way up her arm.

"What are we going to do about...Peter's body?" Andrew asked, as much as he really didn't want to. He felt very bad asking; two people had already died, and even though he felt lucky, he felt very bad. He felt that this family had done absolutely nothing to deserve what they were going through.

Father Sinclair thinks for a minute then responds, "We'll put his in the basement as well...with Martha's persmission. It's her house, I can't make decisions...I don't know what she would want to do with the body anyway."

Andrew finishes with the bandages and stands up. He then wipes some of the blood that was still smeared on his face off.

"Father...is the demon that was in her...banned now?" Andrea asked, hoping all of this will be over.

"Yes," Father Sinclair answered, "but I highly doubt it's over...but I know we're getting close...they haven't stole her soul so far..."
