• Moon-lit, the sky that night was, winds bellowing against the sails in which the threads of Wood-spider silk were so excellently made. The Sky-Ship swayed to-and-fro in the high skies just about into open sky! Cautiously the Captain of this ship, Jeraspius Moninux, pulled the levers decorating the hull, one to the front and two to the back. The weights kept the ship going as well as the flight-rock, tended to by the Stone Pilot. The Moonbell, as the ship was so called, dipped. The wind proved too strenuous for the faltering ship and the crew itself. Even the mutinous Quarter Master dared not speak out. Cautiously the young boy sitting in his cabin, moved out of his hammock flipping out due to the sudden outbreak of the currents. “What’s happening?” said the boy, to him, and ran up to deck. The crew were running around the deck slipping, trying to follow the Captain’s orders. The boy, Cowlsquape looked down, stressing his eyes through the currents, he saw the never ending Deepwoods. The started to fall, hurtling in the sky although the crew thought this was intentional, and the captain knew they were going to take a fall into the middle of the Night Woods in which the Waifs live. “Waif Country, that be our path,” plotted the captain however the wind seemed to take the sound away. None of the crew took heed to their captain; the crew seemed to be taking care on the tolley ropes, and the Stone Pilot came from beneath deck. Jeraspius rolled his eyes, “This better be of sheer importance,” said the Captain as the Stone Pilot drew near. “We’re dropping sir,” exclaimed the Stone Pilot; his face concealed under the drowning suit upon the creature. Wary; a young Flat-Head Goblin clambered to his feet and went up to the hull to see the captain, “We’re falling into the deepwoods! Why sir, why?” stammered the goblin, lolling his eyes as his body trembled with anxiety. Solemnly, the ship fell and hit the floor, the only noise to be heard was the shrill sound of cracking and splintering wood. The only survivors were; the captain, the Stone Pilot, a Banderbear and Cowlsquape. The ship hit the Deepwoods, right next to the Great Shryke Slave Market as many Shyrkes came to inspect the Ship. “We aren’t here for the Market,” Cowlquape said, mouth-agape; these monsters were like evil humanoid birds. Twitching the young boy was took by the waist as was the Stone Pilot and Captain until the Banderbear went on an outrage knocking out the shyrkes and still not bringing harm to his friends. “Wuh-wuh,” said the Banderbear seemingly smiling; they ran through into the uncharted woods and into darkness; the canopy of leaves filtered out the sunlight or moonlight. The Banderbear got food for the travellers as they set off to find the end of the woods, then across the mire; what a formidable challenge.

However in Sanctaphrax, the great floating city, the weather forecast was torrential rain, irregular hurricanes and the figure of the moon, hurtling down. Nine weeks until the moon hit Sanctaphrax out of the sky.
The Travellers trudged through the gangly woods, where echoing squeals sounded around them simultaneously. One of the direst situations, the captain has had to deal with. As they reached the edge of the Deepwoods, the Twilight Woods awaited them with the singing lullabies which sang mournful songs. Until a set of prowlgrins came hurtling towards the group as they attacked the faithful Banderbear which couldn’t bare the attacks. Although a set of wigs-wigs slid across the floor, small orange puffs of pure evil. The Devils killed the prowlgrins and the Banderbear while Jeraspius, Cowlsuape and the Stone Pilot climbed a nearby lullabee tree. Nothing of the animals was left. Shuddering involuntarily Cowlsquape climbed down inspecting the area, before signalling the others with an awkward wave. They set off once again, getting closer to the quaking blowholes of the Mire. The Captain ran after seeing an opening followed by Cowlsquape and the straining Stone Pilot, who had a huge suit on, and sure enough there was the mire. Two weeks had passed while they were in the Woods. The newly built bridge across the Mire allowed the group get over it within a week without any trouble.
When they got to Undertown the area was empty, a presumption came across Cowlsquape’s mind. ‘Are they harvesting the Flight Rocks?’ thought the boy. A waif would probably hear him but nevertheless they made their way to the Bloodoak Tavern in which they could get financial help from Mother Horsefeather, a rich shryke, in order to get a new ship and crew. Even the Tavern was empty. The Shryke sat at a lone table before sharing the news, “The world is about to end. The moon is going to fall upon us, curse open sky.” Said the shryke in a panicky tone. A gasp filled the air from the three customers. “We’re here for a new Sky Ship, maybe we could help?”

Cowlsquape and his captain came to the new ship with the Stone Pilot already getting onto his duties. The Professor of Lunar Activity, a new Academy, was also there to greet the two. “Jeraspius, we need to talk about this accursed mission you’ve taken on.” The new crew seemed interesting; a quartermaster, a flat-head, a fourthling, a slaughterer, and finally an oakelf. ‘No banderbear,’ thought Cowlsquape unhappy. As his captain came back, a feature of alarm in his face, he told the crew to set sail. Their “accursed” mission was to batter the falling moon and take the hit themselves however only the Stone Pilot and Cowlquape knew this. After Six weeks in the sky, dodging Leauge Ships, robbing some. They attacked the falling moon in a torrent of shattering winds. The moon was breaking and hitting the ship and wrecking the hull. The Captain fell over board, falling into the depths of open sky. Cowlsquape took charge as the right-hand man. Driving the ship into the moon as they tied it in rope until it smashed away banging the side of the ship, making it hurtle down to Undertown, towards the Western Quays. One of the Leaguesmans houses were destroyed as the moon and the MoonBell blew up in a thistle of fiery hell.

Sancaphrax was saved however the “posh” half of Undertown was destroyed killing many people. The Academics rejoiced but the Leagues were distraught and only three survivors were left, the mutinous quartermaster, the Stone Pilot and Cowlsquape. Suddenly the quartermaster attacked the Stone Pilot before Cowlsquape intercepted the attack and the Stone Pilot stabbed him with a dagger concealed in the huge costume. Cowlsquape walked to the Blood oak tavern just as his captain did, and order for Mother Horse Feather, the story of Captain Cowlsquape begins.
