• Recap:
Suddenly the man dropped me, quickly catching me in his arms before I hit the ground. He brought my neck to his face, and brushed my long, blonde hair to the side. He touched his lips to my neck... and that's when I became unconscious.

    -------------------------------End Recap------------------------------------------------------------

I opened my eyes and wondered why I was so stiff. Where in the Hell was I? The room was dark, with tightly drawn curtains. All I could see was a door, the rather uncomfortable bed I lay in, and a a few boards poorly nailed together to serve as a nightstand. I shot out of bed quicker than a greyhound on steroids, and the sudden movement sent me crumpling to the floor.

"Ahh! Dumbass!" I cried to myself and gripped my head in my hands. It felt like my skull was cracked in two. Not just like a bad headache, I mean, I'm not even sure that I can explain it. It just felt like every tiny movement I made sent shooting pain in my skull. It even hurt to think. I grabbed the edge of the mattress and attempted to hoist myself up slowly, but taking my time was worse than the jerking. The pain seemed to prolong with every mili-inch that I moved.

I growled in frustration and, giving up on avoiding pain altogether, leaped onto the bed in one stiff movement. I clenched my jaw to hold back a scream and squeezed my eyes shut against the tears. My God, why did my head hurt so damn bad? I touched my hand to my head and felt a piece of cloth. The hell...? Why was there a cloth on my head? Better yet, what was I doing here- NO! Even better yet, who the Hell was I?

I blinked my eyes several times as I came to the realization that I couldn't remember anything. Not my past or my family (did I even have a family?). Well Hell, I couldn't even remember my name. My heart started pounding in my chest. What if I lost my memory in some freak accident? What do people do in these types of situations? You know, this is the kind of s**t they should teach kids at school, emergency memory loss situations...School?! HAH!! I remember school... just not going to it.... but that has to account for something, right? And two plus two is fi- I mean four... so I know math (kinda).

So then I guess I know all the basic crap I must have learned, just none of the personal stuff.... I wonder what my favorite color is...? Was it black? What about my favorite food? Was I pretty... or did I look like a fish? I know... I'm in a freaking crisis here and all I can think about is how my face looks- vain, right? I wonder how big my boobs are...... oh right! You're still here aren't you? Eh hehehe... ahem.... yeah, moving on now (readers: *eye twitches*).

Aw man, what am I gonna do now. I can't even ******** move to run the Hell out of this place. Or wait, maybe this is my place? I glanced around the rather pitiful room.

Well if this was my place I'd forget it to. I thought... oh wait, I did forget... and that might as very well been my place... Hmmm, well s**t, this was getting confusing.

Was I even old enough to have my own place? Suddenly I heard the door creak open and I froze, my hair standing on end. I didn't know what to expect; my mother, a kidnapper, a talking llama...?

A man stepped into the room. He looked like a young man, and I tried to make him out as best as I could through the dark. I could see that he had dark hair, whether deep brown or black; I couldn't tell. His eyes shone though the dark, and I could clearly see them even from across the room. They held a weird glow to them, and the color was so inhuman it was freakishly...awesome. All I could think was...contacts? Because those were some pretty wicked eyes. The left one was a soft blue, and the right a magnetic green. How entrancing those eyes were, I felt like I could stare into them forever...

"So I see you're awake." He observed. I released a breath of air.

"Yes... I mean, I guess I am. Uhm, wh-who are you again? I mean, do I know you?" I asked, tumbling over my own words. The man stared at me for a moment.

"You mean you don't recognize me?"

"No I don't. I'm sorry. I can't remember anything. Do I live here or know you in some way. I-I can't remember... I don't even know my name!" I exclaimed, tears clouding my vision. The man stared at me quizzically for a moment, a look of deep thought crossing his face. Then he grinned mischievously, like he struck an idea or something. I, of course, was completely clueless.

"Why, you must have lost part of your memory after that bump to your head last night. You really don't recognize me?" He asked, his voice softer now. I shook my head 'no'.

"Does that mean you know my name?" I whispered. God, don't let it be something lame like Brittany or Sarah. The man thought for a moment, then replied,

    "Naria. That's your name...yes."

"Naria." I tested the name out, I was hoping it would sound familiar, as some sort of symbol of my life that I could recognize. I liked it, it did sound like a nice name, and a little familiar, too.

"So then what's your name, who are you?"I asked curiously. Just don't let him be my dad. Nobody's dad could be that hot. I guess a brother would be better but I would much rather have him be the boy next door wink .

"My name is Kade. You've lived with me by my side for several years now; a companion, if you will." He explained. I narrowed my eyes.

"Now when you say companion do you mean like friend companion or dog companion?" I questioned with a quirk of my eyebrow.

"Well a bit of both you could say. But, don't think of it so much as a dog-"

"Wait a minute, normal people don't keep humans as pets, wait.... do they?"I interrupted him. Kade crossed the room with a graceful swiftness and sat next to me on the bed.

"Well that would be true, except for the fact that I'm not a normal person. There is so much that I must teach you again..." He sighed. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. He's not normal? Like not normal how? Does he have a sixth toe, or what? Ugh, exactly how much did I forget?

"What do you mean 'not a normal person'?" I asked.

    "Naria, I'm a vampire."
