• My heart pounded in my chest as I watched the soccer game in the gym. Actually, I wasn't really watching it, I was watching him. Anyone could plainly see that I was staring, but no one noticed. I'd let my chocolate eyes gaze into his blue ones until they were sore. He jerked his head to get his hair out of his face. He smiled and I had to make myself look away, but that wasn't easy. As I watched his swift soccer maneuvers to score a few goals, I remembered the first time I realized I liked him.
It was the beginning of seventh grade year at open field. There he was, striding towards Erina and I, bag over shoulder, smiling his brilliant smile. I tripped over my soccer ball and fell on the ground, dropping my jaw as I fell. Of course Erin had laughed at me, then helped me up. "What did you do that for?" she giggled. "I didn't do it on purpose." I protested, wiping dirt off my t-shirt.
"Kate?" I had asked later that open field. "Mhm?" she had asked back. "Who's he?" I had asked, breathless as I pointed to the cute blondie that was kicking everybody's butt. "Luke Rosendale, why?" she had asked , looking at me suspiciously. "Oh, just-just wondering, you know how I like to know my new kids-the new kids." I had corrected myself quickly and nervously. "Sara......?" she had said, putting her hands on her hips and gave me a menacing glare, trying to pry information from me. I hid a smile but had been saved by Roger's whistle blowing. "Kate, Sara, back on the field, let's go!" he had yelled. I had thanked the Lord quietly for his kindness and then went back to playing.
As I came out of my flashback I rested my hand on my palm, staring intensely again. I wasn't worried about him thinking I was weird because he had no idea of my existence, well actually he did because he had said "by Sara," the other day when he had left the Senior Parking lot. I smiled lovingly at him as he ignored my existence, but I'd never give up.
Yes Mr. Luke Rosendale was the only thing keeping me glued to Sacred Fart.
