• My title might stir up mixed emotions but the truth is that to be against marijuana legalization in spite of all the evidence and proof is nothing less of being an idiot. In today’s day an age with so many problems in the United States of America why do we as a people hinder the efforts of the legislation of marijuana? Many police officers and even police chiefs have come out in support of legislation of marijuana. Multiple law enforcement organizations have said that our countries war on drugs was a complete waste of time and money. And only fuels our country’s industrial prison complex were minor drug offensives can lead to often mandatory drug sentences. If you look alcohol and compare it to marijuana you will see that it is complete stupidity to have the one less harmful be made illegal. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that more than 37,000 annual U.S. deaths occur from the effects of alcohol. On the other hand, the CDC does not even have a category for deaths caused by the use of marijuana. So that means there are close to zero if any deaths attributed to marijuana consumption. Also the cost of healthcare for alcohol is around $170 annually far outweighing the cost of marijuana which is $20 annually.
