• Through my eyes it glistens, through yours it darkens.
    By which means is this determined?
    Not I, nor you, shall ever know,
    Not I, nor thou, shall ever find out.
    But what does this imply?
    That we may not see eye to eye.
    But why is it, we cannot see,
    The truth before us comes without fee.
    You’d think at least, the simplest of things,
    Would be visible, to every eye.
    And yet, even when the bell rings,
    And we've seen these things;
    We still believe that of which is only lies.
    The heart believes what it wishes was true;
    That is why it glistened to me, and darkened to you.
    Do not destroy what I find not a lie,
    For we do not see, eye to eye.
