• You hurt us all so badly
Eyes fixed on a flickering screen
    Flames, screams, debris everywhere
Standing so tall, the Twins fell down
    Lives snuffed out within seconds
    Destruction their sad burial
    I, too young to understand
    Didn’t realize why Mama cried
    Soon I understood, and asked
“Why do they want to hurt us all?
    I never hurt them, never.”
But I know they hurt so many
    Mothers, fathers, siblings, friends
    Children screaming for their parents
When they realized they were gone
    Thinking about it hurts, scars
Tears will forever stain our cheeks
When we face that truth head on
Staring at where the Twin Towers
    Once overlooked that city
It’s hard to see them in my mind
But it is so easy to
See the effect they have had on
My country, my home, my life
    So everytime September comes
    And the number eleven
I must bow my head and weep, so
    I will never forget them....
