I try to fall asleep
But I'm kept awake by the cars that softly creep
The sirens of the fire trucks invade my mind to the point I want to weep
But, I guess that's just city life.
In the morning I sit and watch the roads pass me by
But at the site of the homeless and the hookers, it's better to watch the sky
Sometimes I wish I could join the birds and fly
But, I guess that's just city life.
In the afternoon I stare at the people in the stores
Teens make out and say I'm eternally yours
While others simply shuffle around the floors
But, I guess that's just city life.
At night I press my face against the window and watch the night owls
The same couple from the store are fighting with what sounds like growls
How can a place be this foul?
But, I guess that's just city life.
A place full of strife
Full of kids with switchblade knifes
But, nowadays places like these are rife
I wanna go home to mom, I hate city life

Description:
I love that I hardly spend anytime at my dad's house in the city.
I get to spend all my time in the country side
But still I've had some experience in city life.
(My parents are divorced and mom lives in the country while dad's in the city.)
