• Your itching eyes drop
    Remember me?
You know I was never gone.

    A drop of blood
    Are you a coward?
    Your secrets are coming undone

    Unsure are we?
You were never good with words
Are you even there for me?

    A thought unfolds
And your eyes search into mine
    A gaze unsure and cold

    A hand reaches forward
    A cry, my scream?
    “Don’t touch me!”

Emotions through our feet to the ground
Is that a hand over my lips?
    “Don’t make a sound.”

    The floor becomes the sky
    Until a turn, a grunt
And I’m looking in those lying eyes

    A question seems perfect
    In such an imperfect moment
Teeth instead sink into my lip

    “Tell the truth.”
But lies are burning the back of my throat
    An urge, “Go ahead.”

    Swallowing down pride
    A glare or a spit?
And I’m turning on my side

    He calls me a leader
    But am I follower?
I could be somewhere in between…

“Time it right.” He had advised
But when have I ever listened?
    Even to him?

    Bare feet scrape the ground
    A look behind me
And I’m running to be found

    But not by him
    And not by me
No one said its easy saying goodbye
