What would you do?
If the world counted on you, to make their lives brighter?
If you were the clown with the frown.
Cheering up others with a phony grin.
How would the madness begin?
Would it come slowly?
Or all at once?
Or could it be both?
Would you know that you've gone mad?
How would others see you now?
Would they see a crazy man or a funny clown?
The answer is hard to understand.
They see part of the man in the suit.
The craziness of the clown is mistaken for humor.
Madness fills the man until it boils over.
He cracks during a performance.
His audience is terrified, but confuses terror for enjoyment from the show.
The clown becomes enraged at their laughter.
He races out of the roaring big top, tormented by their echoing jeers.
In the trailer where he resides is chaos.
Why, oh why, can't he escape their laughter?
He opens an old shoe box and inside is his escape.
A pistol.
He waits in silence for the madness to be complete.
The laughter is everywhere, and now it's time.
HE smiles as he presses the barrel to his temple.
His finger does not tremble as he pulls the trigger.....
It's finally over, no more laughter.
But he knows this; the laughter turned to screams when the gun went off.
He knows it is over and that he is dead.
But before he leaves this world, he smiles.
A real smile this time.
He is dead, gone, and, finally, happy.
