• A boy sits there waiting
    under an old oak tree.
    Sits there swallowing his pride.
Hoping to be the best he can be.

    He sits there thinking
    that something’s not right.
yet he still sits there waiting
    into the day and night.

He smiles at the moon and stars
from the grass where he lay.
    But a thunderstorm approaches
and his good feeling goes away.

The lightning strikes and thunder roars,
the little boy doesn't know what to do.
he's gonna keep sitting there waiting
because his mind is set on the truth.

he's so stubborn he won't see
    his wait has just begun.
    Seems okay for right now
because he just wants to have fun.

The storm clears and he survives.
So he goes back to waiting.
With a confused look on his face
    he started contemplating.

He pulls out a note that he had.
And so he begins to read.
"Wait for me and I'll be there
    under the old oak tree.

    You wont wait long.
    Just trust me dear.
    Just don't give up,
    soon I'll be there.

I love you with all my heart.
    True love doesn't die.
Wait for me and you will see.
Give me a chance and try."

So if you see that little boy
    tell him all is okay.
He may think he's all alone
    but he won't be someday.

    The little boy is crying
thinking that note was a lie.
How can he wait this long?
How much longer can he try?

He knows he loves that girl,
but waiting is hard to do.
Puts thoughts in his mind that
    love isn't true.

    What's the point of love?
    Does it really exist?
Was there something wrong about himself,
    that he completely missed?

    Was he too annoying?
Was he there for her too many times?
    Did he say something horrible?
Did he write too many rhymes?

These questions he has thought of
    blackens his fragile mind.
    But he's sit there waiting
because all he has is time.

    He doesn't want her gone,
but he doesn't know whether or not to stay.
Does she truly want him there?
Or should he just go away?

The pain he has gone through is
    unbearable to say the least.
But he'd go through it all just
for him and her to meet.

    Forever is a long time,
he plans to be there anyway.
For she could show up there
    anytime or any day.

    This little boy is broken,
    battered into pieces.
    But he sits there waiting
to prove to everyone he's not miss leaded.

    She doesn't see his agony.
She's not really there at all.
    But he just keeps waiting.
    Summer, spring, winter, fall.
