• Night is gone and the sunlight peeks
over the walls as the floorboards creak.
    "There's no saving me now..
    I'll always love you."

Her voice is soft and rings in my ears,
no different from all the years
    I've known her.
    She knows me better.

As she cries, I can't hold my tears
    and reality becomes my fears.
    She says I'll be okay.
    "Mom?" Don't leave me here.

I wonder if she knew how far I'd go
now, just to hear her voice so low,
    telling me she loves me
    because I'm forgetting the sound.
