Nikki wasn't about to lay around in a hospital for a month. He lasted about a week before he decided it was time to get the hell out of there. Late during the night, Nikki opened one eye lazily. There was no one around. Moonlight shone on the tile floors of the hospital. Nikki had already thrown on his clothes earlier that night and now slipped out from beneath the starchy sheets of the hospital bed. He crept over to the window and opened it, smashing to screen out. He crawled through it and clung to the outside of the building. He crept over to the fire escape. He ran all the way back to the mansion, he stood for a second, standing for a minute at the doorway in an attempt to slow his breathing.
(Nikki. Yeah, his hair is a little longer, he was asleep for four months!!!)
With one final breath Nikki opened the doors to the mansion. Everything was dark. No one?? How could it be that--- Nikki thoughts were interuppted by footsteps. Nikki whirled around to see Vince walking towards him from the direction of the kitchen.
"Nikki! We didn't expect you back this soon."
b*****d. You didn't expect me back at all. "Yeah," Nikki said, running his hand through his hair. He tried to walk past Vince but Vince got in the way.
"So, what happened to you back there exactly?" Vince said, raising an eyebrow.
You shot me a*****e. "I dunno. I don't really remember anything."
"Oh?"
Nikki nodded. "I'm really tired, can i get past you?" Nikki said, getting a little frustruated.
Vince threw his cigrette at him, hitting him in the middle of the forehead. "Don't talk that way to your future don!" He smacked Nikki in the face.
(Vince. with his cig...)
Nikki looked at him, stunned. "what...did you just say?" There were more footsteps. Nikki's father was at the top of the stairs, coming down towards them. "Nikki, good to see you alive." He said, eering on the edge of coldly. What the hell are you talking about, you don't give a s**t!!!
"Yeah." Nikki said slowly, waiting for an explanation.
Vince looked at him, smiling condescedingly. "We decided that ou weren't 'don material.' I'm going to be the next don."
Nikki stared at him and back to his father in shock.
"It's true." Giovanni said casually. "Face it Nikki, You're the family ********. We can offer you a job as an assasin or something though...you're pretty good with a gun."
Pretty good?? Nikki could top even his father with a gun, and he was NOT the family ********, that would be Joey.
(Giovanni, screwing Nikki over again.)
Nikki balled his hands into fists. He'd always considered being the next don a burden, but now he realized that he wanted it and he'd do whatever it took to get it. Vince you messed with the wrong guy.
"You should sleep on it Nikki." Vince said putting his hand on Nikki's shoulder. "It's for the benefit of the family, you care about the family, don't you?" Nikki suddenly felt tears well up in his eyes. Angry tears. He hated them, he hated them all. He ran past Giovanni before they could see his tears, straight to his room. He heard Giovanni say behind him.
"Useless."
Nikki collapsed onto the window seat in his room, looking out into the tranquil night. He walked across the room slowly. He picked up his gun, looking at it, thinking about what he could do with it. He held it level with his head, and whipped around, throwing it through his window. The glass shattered. No more nice Nikki...
