Got the Beatles in my head again. Oh well, if you're gonna have music in your head, at least hope for a good song.
I partied my a** off Saturday night. The school did its Halloween party,
and you bet your sweet potatos I was there. I boogied for three hours.
And I mean straight boogie-ing. I shaked my a** AND dropped it like it's hot.
I know, enough of the "hip young phrasees". It just sounds so unnatural coming out of me.
But I had a great time, and I danced with friends, and I watched part of Rocky Horror until we met this poor guy who had never seen the Lion King.
His girlfriend insisted he see it immediately.
There were trick-or-treaters that came by the dorms at 5-8pm. I always loved Halloween for just that-I love kids, and getting to see them all out in costumes, not having to deal with their sugar highs like their poor mothers, ahhh, sweet bliss.
And I did dress up like a princess. I finally got over myself long enough to realize it wasn't about me, it was about us, and the kids, and I didn't feel like being the attention whore dragging down everyone's good time.
But to the party I dressed like a biker babe. There's only so long I can go wearing a poofy prom dress.
And I stayed out long enough to see all my favourite constellations before I went to bed. Orion, Taurus, Plaetes, and yes, Sirius. The brightest star in the sky, I love that one most of all.
And I got my Chinese food fix last night too, and I managed to eat an entire egg roll without feeling sick. Well, that was a first. I usually can't stand leafy things like lettuce and cabage and collards and turnup greens, but I did this time. And it was pretty good.
Huh, you just never know.
I've also become the resident paper-proofer of my suite. I don't mind, I like helping people, I want them to do well; plus, it feeds my superiority complex, so that's nice too.
The driving point behind all of this is to say that I asked God to help me, and He did. I don't know if He was waiting for me to break down, to humble myself, to make me realize that the individual needs God and His creations, I don't know what exactly He wanted, but He must have gotten it, because now I have friends, and lots of new acquantances.
So thank you, Father, for this gift of friendship. While I understand it is my responsibilty to keep and maintain them, thank You for giving them.
