The Flame Will Burn…
I saw the flame, it looked enticing
I decided I'd touch it, and at first it didn't burn
as I continued to run my hand through the flame, it continued to char my flesh
I didn't mind the burn at first; "sometimes feeling pain is better than nothing at all"
after a long time of continually running my hand through fire, I realized what I was doing to myself
I could see the burned skin, I could feel the blister starting to form on my hand
I pulled my hand away and kept it from the flame, realizing how foolish I was to put my hand in fire, knowing it would burn me
for a while I did not attempt to put my hand in that fire, tired other things, but the hurt was all the same
then the most horrible thing happened...
the fire glowed to me...
it always seemed to glow, but my ignoring the flame made it seem to glow brighter and more enticing...
foolishly, I began to put my hand in the flame again
and, as to be expected, I was getting burned again
my flesh began to char, my hand would blister
tears streamed down my face, because I knew exactly what I was doing
and yet I continued to do it anyway...
