I Need to Know

I need to know I am safe
I need to know I am loved
I need to know I am protected
I need to know I am thought of kindly
I need to know I have friends
I need to know I am respected
I need to know things are okay
I need to know they can get better
I need to know demons can't catch me here
I need to know she loves me, even if I'm not a "sexy boy"
I need to know my family has my back when the dragon I'm chasing turns to smoke
I need to know my heart will grow wings and fly again
I need to know my mind will stop trying to believe the world is out to get me
I need to know I'm not a looser
I need to know I am allowed to sing
I need to know if I do something foolish, the only one that will remember it is me
I need to know I can make people smile while I preform
I need to know the life I have is a good one, a sensible one
I need to know I have someone to hold me and dry my tears
I need to know I can still open my heart without being ridiculed
I need to know that even though the choices I make have consequences, that I will not be alone in the facing of them
I need to know when I jump to fly, my wings will spread
and I won't be alone in the air.
