Lost in Wonderland
I've gone mad, and can't get out...
ST11 Chapel Post 3

The girl appeared fine in her mind set, and there wasn’t another thing Christine could perform. She’d have to let the cooling agent settle nicely. It’d take up to an hour before she cleaned it off. Technology might have improved throughout the centuries, but the modern touch of the past always enabled a better response.

Better to take your time than to royally screw it up. And Chapel was not about to do just that, not when she was trying to prove herself. Clearing her throat, she settled a hand upon Syx’s shoulder, “She’ll just be all right, though of course, under regulations and my own moral sense…she will be staying with us for the rest of the evening..you can never tell how someone will react to the agent.”

She gave her best motherly smile before letting her hand slide off. Her gaze fell upon the girl, and wondered when Starfleet would fix the problems aboard the Enterprise. She didn’t want to treat another wound like this. Not that she was tired. No. Chapel wanted space to feel safe. It was a hard enough time requiting medical physicians. Apparently the fear of space had grown, and she wasn’t quite sure what caused it all.

A soft smile formed at the remembrance of Dr. McCoy’s little speech when she brought aboard with the other cadets. Even now, Bones expressed his distrust of space and how it could kill us all in a blink of an eye.

Turning her head ever slightly, she caught the glimpse of a figure that looked out of place. Frowning, Chapel’s gaze sharply turned on the person in question. She was surprised to see it was the doctor dressed casually. Normally, his sneaking into sickbay would not have caused for alarm…but, Leonard was suppose to be in his quarters, resting.

Christine didn’t want to think less of the CMO, but a small gut feeling made her leave the bed side, ” Excuse me for one moment…” she informed Syx. She didn’t want the girl to think she was abandoning her post. Christine paused in her stride when a fellow nurse asked her a question.

More strange things were happening these days.

“Nurse Chapel..the heart of the Vulcan is where? Its on the side? Right? I need to input it correctly in the scanner or else it’ll flip out on me..I would ask Doctor McCoy, but he’s out.” and you’re the next best thing. were the unspoken words, but clearly indicated on the other nurse’s face. This nurse was called Linda, if memory served her right.

Chapel thought for a brief moment before visually showing. She settled her hand underneath the left breast, “it would be right under the lung here.” Her hand went a little further down. She glanced down, making sure she had it right. Satisfied, Chapel smiled towards the other nurse who looked at her blankly.

“…Right then…thank you…” Linda scuffed out before moving along to someone else, asking the very same question. She of course was rewarded with a ‘I don’t know’.

Rolling her eyes, Christine took back to following Leonard. She found him in his office, typing away at the computer console. She would have left him at that, had she not spot the small vile with sea-green liquid inside. Her mouth stood a-gap for a second before it registered fully upon her. That was the same vile she had given to Zafirah.

“Doctor McCoy, I don’t mean to intrude but it would seem one of my patients has left a vile of sleeping dosage on your desk.” Chapel said, eyeing him when he looked her way. Her gaze narrowed, “Also, that is not the right dosage for you. I can easily get the right one.” Sleeping pills, came in different sizes, varying by the person. And quite frankly, the one in the doctor’s process wouldn’t do anything for him except give him a mild stomach ache and perhaps vomiting. He should have known that.

It was in her nature to do this. She didn’t back down easily when she knew someone wasn’t going to take care of themselves. Chapel exited the office and gathered the right dosage for the CMO, and returned with it. “Doctor, this one is for you. Please get some rest, and…” she picked the vile up for Zafirah, “since your quarters are on the same deck.” She had checked, “It would be easier for you to deliver this to Miss Zafirah. Thank you, Doctor. I will see you after your rest.” With that said, she handed him both viles with a smile and left.

You can’t win against Christine Chapel….
