I'm filled with a new boost of confidence about the aforementioned essay. Seems that I remembered a lot of things in the scene that were more or less spot-on. I think I made a very good choice. If I make all my notes tonight, I can start writing it up tomorrow and then do some last-minute research before fininshing it off and cutting it down to 1000 words. Then I have to pray that I have time to print it out either on Wednesday or Thursday.
But I stand by my original point; don't put these things off until the last week (or in my case , four days).
On the subject, the film that my chosen scene comes from is Azumi. It's an excellent film from 2003, and if you're into Japanese action cinema/period movies I recommend it highly. It's directed by Ryuhei Kitamura-sama, the man who made his name by directing Versus in 2000, and also directed the last (for awhile) Godzilla movie: Final Wars. In my opinion, Azumi and Versus are neck-and-neck in the awesome movie polls. They both have awesome fight choreography, and while Versus gets good marks for humour and its general tongue-in-cheek tone, Azumi gets an equal standing from its mix of action and drama.
Azumi is an excellent story dealing with such powerful themes as the loss of innocence, and the effect of a harsh, unforgiving world upon young people. It's ace, go watch it.
