Lord and Lady above! The kids in my classroom really throw me sometimes. I'm sure you are all wondering at this point what the kids in my current student teaching placement are doing to warrant my wanting to post about it, so let me give you a few examples:



Example One:

Kid: Ms. S, Ms. S
Ms. S: What is it?
Kid: (holding out finger) I have a papercut.
Ms. S: Okay...is it bleeding?
Kid: No...
Ms. S: Then you're fine.
Kid: But my finger hurts.
Ms. S: Yeah, mine do too when I get one of those.



Example Two:

Kid: Ms. S, Ms. S!
Ms. S: Yes?
Kid: My arm is all itchy, can I go to the nurse?
Ms. S: (taking a look at the arm) I don't think you need to go to the nurse, sweetie.
Kid: But it's turning red!
Ms. S: That's because you keep itching it.
Kid: Oh.



Example Three:


Kid: Ms. S, can I go to the nurse?
Ms. S: Why? What's wrong?
Kid: Kid 2 told me my eye was all red.
Ms. S: (looking at the eye) It's not red at all. I don't think you need to see the nurse.



Example Four:

Kid: I think I broke my left arm.
Ms. S: That's your right arm.
Kid: Oh.
Ms. S: Can you move it?
Kid: (moves the arm about)
Ms. S: If you can move your arm, it's not broken.
Kid: Maybe it is...
Ms. S: No, trust me, it it were broken, you wouldn't be able to move it, and if you did manage it, it would hurt...alot.


Example Five:

Ms. S: How is your leg?
Kid: Why?
Ms. S: Well, you skinned it yesterday on the way to the bus. I just thought I'd ask how you were doing?
Kid: It's fine. On the bus, Kid 2 put pudding on it.
Ms. S: Pudding?
Kid: Yeah.
Ms. S: Um, okay.
Kid: I got her back by putting pudding in her hair. We had a pudding fight on the bus!
Ms. S: (to herself) I'm sure the bus driver loved that...
