One more thing... why the shiny skin? Well, Adam was created as the perfect being, so I needed something that could portray that. Him being shiny meant that he had not been corrupted yet and not susceptible to decay.
Same goes with the closed eyes. He was innocent and could not see the sins that were out in the world waiting to be discovered. After he eats the fruit, his "eyes are opened".
