• Lonely Ghost

It was the beginning of summer vacation. But for Jess this vacation will be a boring one. Her parents where some kind of scientists and had to leave. So they took Jess to her aunt Tilly. Tilly has a daughter called Becky. Tilly was a real state agent. Jess looked out side the car and she saw a house next door of her aunts home. She could have sworn she heard someone knock from that old house. “You’ll be sleeping in Becky’s room, so you two can stay up all night giggling”. Aunt Tilly said. Jess could see the look in Becky’s eyes, that hating look. “Great”. She replied to her aunt.

Jess looked around the room. It was pink, girly pink. And there where stuffed animals everywhere. Aunt Tilly removed all the stuffed animals of the second bed that was in Becky’s room. “Becky’s nanny used to sleep there when Becky was just a little girl.” Aunt Tilly said before she left the room. “Don’t think I will be spending my summer with you”. Becky said meanly to Jess. “You don’t have to spent it with just me, we can do stuff with your friends”. Jess knew that this summer would be the worst ever. “You don’t even know my friends”. Becky replied. “They could get to know me”. Jess said. “Why, its not like just anyone can hang with us, you have to prove your not a dweeb” Becky was getting a little annoyed. “How does one prove there not a dweeb”. Jess was getting a little confused. “Okay look, you want to hang with us you have to follow the rules” Becky turned around and looked at Jess. “What rules?” Jess wanted to know. “Okay, first off I don’t want anyone to notice you’re here. That means putting my animal collection back in the exact right places. Infect I don’t feel like having my room look like a disaster all day so do it now.” Becky said. “And you can’t go crying to mom or nanny ever no matter what happens.” She added. “Fine, I’ll put everything back in the right order everyday, and I wont snitch, easy”. Jess said while she put back all the stuffed animals. “Then there is the most important thing”. Becky said. “What’s that?” Jess wanted to know. “The initiation”. Becky said mysteriously. “The initiation?” Jess felt a little scared. “O yeah, anyone who hangs with us, has to spent the night alone in the place next door.” They both looked out the window and saw the house next door. It was empty and Becky’s aunt couldn’t even get people to look at the place. “It’s haunted” Becky went on. Jess felt a shiver going down her spine and she looked at the house again.

Later that night Jess sat down in the hallway to right a letter to her mom and dad. ‘Dear mom and dad, I hope your having a good time. I am too”. She sighs. She heard someone get up the stairs. She got up to take a look. It was Nanny. Jess haven’t met her yet. “You must me Jess”. Nanny said. “I’m Nanny”. She wanted to shack Jess’ hand, but Becky came out of the door screaming. “No!!, if you touch her I will never let you touch my things again.” She Yelled at Nanny while she slammed the door. Nanny looked a little shocked and went down the stairs quickly.

Jess went back into Becky’s room, Becky had a mad look on her face with her arms crossed. “Don’t you ever talk to her”. She said to Jess. “Who is she?” Jess asked Becky. “My Nanny, and I want her gone.” Becky calmed down a little. “Why? ” Jess said. “Because I’m to old for a Nanny, and she is so weird. I hate it how she is always watching me.” Becky sat down on her bed. “ She seems kind off sad to me” Jess replied. “She is Crazy really crazy”. Becky put the covers over her. “I know for a fact that there is something funny with her and that haunted place next door. I heard my parents talking once. I think she must have been driven insane by the ghost.” Becky looked at Jess. Jess looked away at the window. “That reminds me, there’s a pool party at Rain’s Saturday, I suppose you want to come.” Becky suddenly asked. “Sure” Jess said with a smile on her face. “Don’t get to exited, you can’t come unless you go true the initiation”. Becky quickly said. Jess’ smile was gone again. “The night at the haunted house?” She asked. “You got it, tomorrow night. Pleasant dreams” Becky turned down the light. Jess looked at the window again and went to sleep.

The next day she walked down the stairs with some laundry. Nanny was there standing when she dropped a pin locket. Jess picked it up. “You dropped this.” She said and gave the pin locket back to Nanny. “Thank you.” Nanny said. “Is that Becky’s laundry”. She asked Jess. “Its okay, it wont take me long.” Jess replied. Nanny took the laundry from Jess. “Don’t worry I wont tell anyone.” Nanny said to Jess. In the kitchen Becky was talking to her mom. “She’s so weird and I am to old for a Nanny, why doesn’t she just leave”. Becky said to her mom while the grabbed her skates. Nanny could hear every word. “I am not going to argue, I told you before she has no where to go. I wish she did but she doesn’t.” Her mom said. Nanny looked sad like she was about to cry. Jess saw it and felt sorry for her. Nanny ran back upstairs. Aunt Tilly went away and told Becky that she didn’t want any more rudeness. When the door closed behind her Becky looked at Jess. “I’m going roller-skating, Don’t touch my stuff.” Then she went out the door too, leaving Jess behind with Nanny.

That night Becky and her friends gathered in the garden of the haunted house next door. Ready for Jess’ initiation. Jess looked at the house from close up and it gave her shivers. “Why does everyone think its haunted anyway?” She asked. “They don’t think its haunted, they know its haunted. And this is why” Becky said. “A long long time there was a little girl who lived there. All the kids made fun of her, because she couldn’t talk.” Becky was telling. “Why couldn’t she talk?” Jess interrupted. “I don’t know, she just couldn’t.” Becky said. “Maybe she was def.” One of Becky’s friend said. “It doesn’t matter just listen.” Becky said pissed. “Sorry”. Her friend said, looking down at the ground. “Anyway, one day her mom got a letter, that her dad who was away in the war, has gotten sick, so she sent the little girl to stay with her grandmother. While she went away to take care of him. Only the little girl didn’t make it to her grandmothers. Because on the way some mean kids surrounded her, and teased her. She ran back home to get away from them, and they followed her, followed her right to her very own home.” The girls looked at the house. “They locked her in her bedroom, and she didn’t escape alive.” Becky continued. “What happened?” Jess asked. “No one knew she was there. Her mother didn’t come back for weeks, and her grandmother didn’t even know she was coming. When they found her she was dead.” Again the girls looked at the house. “And that is where you have to go, her bedroom. We will know your in there by the light from this.” Becky gave her a flashlight. And the keys. “The keys for the front door.” “Wont aunt Tilly miss them?” Jess wanted to know. “No Way, no one ever comes to see the place, its just to scary.” Becky said to Jess. Jess looked at the house again and walked back a few steps but Becky pushed her back towards the house. “You could turn chicken, if you rather want to spent the summer alone, reading.” Becky said meanly. “No I’m going in, I don’t believe in ghosts anyway.” Jess walked a few steps towards the house. “Neither did we until we spent the night in there.” Becky said to scare Jess. Jess walked towards the front door, leaving the girl behind. When Jess was to far away to hear Becky and her friends Becky turned to the girl. “She really thinks we all did this.” The girl ran quickly away laughing.

Jess went up the stairs in front of the house. She opened the door and went in. she looked around. Suddenly she heard footsteps and a laughter. “Very funny you guys, I know that’s you trying to scare me.” She said. Again a childish laughter. Jess walk thru the living room and went up the stairs. She opened the door to the little girls bedroom and went in. She looked around the room and went back to find the light switch. Suddenly she heard someone knocking from behind her. “What was that.” She said scared while she turned around. She looked at the mirror and picked up the flashlight that she had dropped. She heard a noise, like someone writing something down. She turned again and right there behind her, on the wall, was written ‘help me’ backwards. That wasn’t there a minute ago. “Its backwards”. Jess said. She looked at the mirror again and she could see the words. “Help me?” she said. The mirror started to glow. Jess walked to it to see what was going on. Then she appeared in the mirror, the little girl. Jess screamed and the girl held out her hand. Jess ran out the house to her aunts house. She ran right upstairs to Becky’s room. Nanny came out her room while Jess closed the door. Nanny went back into her room.

Becky went to Rain’s for the whole night and Aunt Tilly was working late. When her aunt came back Jess told her everything that happened and she sent both girls back to clean the walls up. With cleaning products and two buckets of soapy water. Because she thinks that they did it to scare people. “I don’t know who did the writing on the wall, I didn’t and I don’t want to know. But you girls will go over there to scrub it off, before I get back”. She said. “Will you come with us”. Jess asked with a scared look on her face. “I will not, I have 2 open houses today and a closing at six. If you two girls went over there last night, you can get over there right now.” Aunt Tilly handed the girl the key to the house next door. “But there is a ghost” Jess said. “Please, you can do better then that. Now come on, come on lets go.” She pushed the girls outside.

“This is all your fault, your such a chicken”. Becky said blaming it all on Jess. “I’m not. And I don’t want to be in your lame old group anymore.” Jess said back to Becky. “Good, I wasn’t going to let you in anyway.” Becky said as they walked over to the house next door. “And you’re a snitch too, a chicken and a snitch. I couldn’t stand being you”. Becky said mad as they walked into the house. Becky wanted to go upstairs but Jess stopped and just looked up the stairs. Becky walked back to her to grab her shirt. “Get a break, its not even dark you cant be scared now.” She pulled Jess on her shirt up stairs. Jess was still scared, she really saw the ghost last night. They opened the door to the little girls room. “One thing’s for sure, I’m not going to invite you to do anything with us ever again.” Becky was still mad at Jess. Jess looked around the room there was help me written backwards everywhere, the whole room was written with it. Becky turned around and then she saw it too. “Wow, no wonder mom was so mad. You did this just to get me in trouble didn’t you.” Becky said. “No I didn’t do it, it wasn’t like this last night.” Jess said while she looked around the room. “Yeah right, if you think I’m going to clean up the mess you made.” Becky saw Jess look at the mirror. “Now what.” She said irritated. They both looked at the mirror.

The mirror image changed into a girls room. The door closed on its own. “Becky come on lets go.” Jess said scared. “Becky was blinded by the reflection in the mirror. “Wow look at all the dolls and stuffed animals, what an awesome collection. It even bigger then mine.” Becky walked towards the mirror and reached for it. At that moment her hand went thru the mirror so Becky walked in. “Becky no!!” Jess screamed. Becky walked right into the mirror and the ghost walked out the mirror, like they just switched places. Jess screamed her lungs out. She wanted to open the door but it wouldn’t open. “Ohh My God!!” She screamed, still trying to open the door. “Let me out.” But the door wouldn’t open up. The ghost girl was walking towards Jess, holding a necklace in her hand. The necklace had a locket on it. Jess sat down on the ground with her knees up and her arms around her head. Screaming “Help me, help me”. The little girl held her hand in front of her, trying to give it to Jess. Jess was still sitting scared on the ground, now with her face on her knees and her arms around them. After a few seconds the looked up. She saw the girl, holding the necklace. “Who are you?” Jess asked the girl. The girl didn’t talk Becky told in her story. But the held the necklace in front of Jess’ face. Jess reached for it and looked at it. “Its Nanny”. She said. The nodded. She looked down sadly. “Your mother?” Jess asked. The girl nodded again. Nanny is you mother?” Jess asked again. The girl kept nodding, with a smile on her face. She walked to the wall and started writing on it. ‘Help me’. This time it wasn’t backwards. “Help me?, help you?” Jess said. “I..I..I can help you, yes.” Jess stuttered. “Please open the door, and I can help you. I’ll get her I will. Please.” Jess said still scared. The girl opened the door. “Thank you, I’ll get her.” Jess said while she went out the door. The girl looked at the mirror. Becky was banging on the other side of it. “No Jess don’t leave me, help me I’m stuck in the mirror. Jess, can’t you see, how am I going to get out of here.” Becky screamed from the other side.

Jess ran back to her aunts home to get Nanny. “Nanny?” Jess ran into the kitchen, looking for Nanny. “Nanny where are you.” She ran upstairs to Nanny’s room. But Nanny wasn’t there, and all her stuff was gone too. Jess jumped on the bed to look out the window. Nanny was outside with all her stuff, a cab was there too, the driver was helping her get her stuff into the cab. “No, Nanny no don’t go.” Jess ran downstairs as quickly as she could. Outside the door. When she got to Nanny she grabbed her shirt. “Please, please don’t go, you have to come with me.” Jess said to Nanny. “What are you saying.” Nanny said shocked. “Over there come on.” Jess said. No, I’m not going in there, to many hard memories. You girls go play your jokes on someone else.” Nanny was very confused. “No, its not a joke please.” Jess said to her. “No, I’m leaving, I’m not wanted here anymore.” Nanny said sadly. “Yes you are, look”. Jess held the locket next to Nannies Locket. Nanny took the locket and looked confused at it. “Where did you get this.” She wanted to know.

Jess took Nanny back to the house next door. “No, no, no I can’t”. Nanny said almost crying. “Yes you can, you have too.” Jess gently tried to get her to the stairs. “I can’t, I can’t. It’s to hard.” Nanny kept saying. “Yes you can.” Jess said again. The finally got the little girls room. Nanny saw her daughter right there standing in front of her. The girl walked to her mom with her arms in front of her. A big smile on her little face. “My baby.” Nanny said. The girl’s smile got bigger. “My poor baby.” Nanny was happy to see her again. “I didn’t know you where here. All this time.” The girl smiled, so happy to see her mom again. Nanny fell down on her knees hugging her little girl. Rubbing her hand gently against her daughters face. “Nothing bad would ever happen to you again” She said. The girl pointed at the mirror. Becky was still in there, looking back at Nanny and the girl. She quickly ran out of the way so Nanny couldn’t see her. “Yes, yes I’ll go with you” Nanny said to her little girl, while she looked at Jess for a short while. Jess smiled, happy to see Nanny so happy again. The girl held her moms hand and they both went into the mirror. Nanny looked back at Jess one last time, before entering the mirror. Jess picked up Nanny’s beg that she left behind and held it. She looked into the mirror, Nanny was on her knees hugging her little girl. They both went back in time, so nanny was younger again and the girl was wearing a pretty light blue dress, she looked like a little girl again. An happy little girl. When they went out the door of that room, Becky got back in front of the mirror.

“Jess.” She screamed before the mirror changed back to normal. Jess walked towards the mirror, still holding Nanny’s bag. She touched the mirror, but its just a normal mirror again. “Jess, help me.” Becky’s voice said. “Jess help me, I’m stuck in the mirror.” Becky’s voice was still there but you couldn’t see her anymore. At that very moment Becky’s friend came in the room. “Jess?” Rain said. “Where is Becky?, her mom said you guys where both over here.” She added. “Please Jess help me.” Becky said from out the mirror. “Are you going to stop bossing me around?” Jess wanted to know. “Yes.” Becky said. “Are you going to stop bossing your friends around?” Jess asked Becky. “Yes.” Becky said again. “Ohh, okay I’ll let you out.” Jess said. She opened the closet door where the mirror was on. Becky came out the closet and fell on the floor. “You know Becky, I think we’re going to have to make some changes in this group.” Rain said. Brianna, Fiona, Rain and Jess laughed.

It turned out Jess had a great summer, she even let Becky hang with the group.
