• Chpt.1 Forest of New Beginnings

As the sun rose through the trees, hit the water and shone into my eyes I woke. Still Lying next to me asleep was Chi. Chi was an orphan raccoon demon. When I found her she was crying over her dead mother. A greater demon from another tribe killed her. As she looked up with her big blue eyes full of tears and her grey hair in her face how could I leave her to die. Chi is six years old but seems to have a power within her that I can’t explain.

Softly I walked over to the water sure not to wake Chi up. I bent over the water and moved my brownish tan hair out of the way to wash my face. My gold eyes seemed to sparkle in the water as I gazed down looking at a tadpole and my reflection. “Yawn, morning Nozomi. Is it time for breakfast already?” Chi said tiredly. “Oh did I wake you. I was going to get some right now if you would like to come you can?” Chi jumped up with excitement. “Yeah!”

Chi ran into the den to change and tie her hair up. When she came out she was wearing her boy’s style green kimono and her hair had a blue hair tie that matched her eyes perfectly. “Already to go!” she said with a basket in her hands. “Ok, ok, just wait a minute I need to change.” I always wear my personal kimono. It has red boy style kimono pants and a white priestess top which I stole for the fun of it! I tied my hair up as well because long hair can be challenging some times. When I came out Chi was holding something shiny.

“Chi what is that?” I asked. “I don’t know I found it over by the path to the berry bushes.” I got a closer look at the shiny object and noticed it was a silver pendant with a leather tie on it like a necklace. “Well it is very interesting. Oh well finders keepers losers weepers!” I said with a laugh. Chi put it in her pocket in her kimono and we both headed out into the forest.

The sun was bright and felt warm as it hit my skin. I had a feeling today was going to be nice. Walking down the path I could sense some one near but I couldn’t figure it out, but I could tell it was powerful. “Chi stay close alright.” I said with a stern voice. “Ok Nozomi I will.” The closer we got to the berry bushes I could feel it getting closer. When we got there it was late morning and I was hungry. I think Chi was too. She was eating more berries of the bush than putting them into her basket. I figured that she would be just fine so I started to pick berries for the week. All of a sudden Chi screamed “AAAAHHHHH! He’s moving Nozomi come quick!” I ran to Chi to see who she was talking about.

When I got there I realized that this was the power I was feeling! There was this person crawling out of the bushes growling and snarling in rage. He was also coughing up blood! His eyes were turned red in distress like his inner demon was ready to kill! “Chi stay back he will hurt you!” I yelled to her. I leaped to her, grabbed her and jumped to the highest tree. “Stay here and don’t move!” I said to Chi. “Nozomi don’t hurt him he’s not himself!” “What?! What do you mean he is not himself?! How would you know?!” “I don’t know how I just do now please stop him before he hurts himself anymore!” Chi said crying. “Alright I won’t hurt him.” I jumped down to face the strange demon. He forced himself up trying to ready himself to fight.
