• SIDE STORY 3 PART 2 - A NEW KIND OF FRIENDSHIP

There's somebody for everybody. And it's all up to you with how far you want to take your relationship with that significant other.

    .:{{Aya's Perspective}}:.

"Sorry we're leaving again, Aya," mom kissed my forehead, "We'll be home late again."

"Sure, sure," I shut the door behind mom and dad.

I turned around to face Akastuki and smiled widely, "Good evening!" I greeted cheerfully.

"Hey," he greeted back with a smiled and a pat on my head.

Akatsuki had been watching over Arisa and I every day for the past three weeks since our sixteenth birthday. He's seventeen...and really cute. Arisa still doesn't know that Akatsuki watches over us. Akatsuki and I became best friends. But...it felt as though it were turning into something more than friendship. I felt a mutual connection with him, if I was right. I was just...attracted to him, I guess.

"You can go ahead and sit down," I offered, "I'm going to make some Hibachi chicken rice. Do you want any?"

"Um," he hesitated, "Sure, I guess."

I went ahead and prepared about half of the meal. I went into the living room to sit down with Akatsuki quickly while the rice was sitting on the frying pan for another six to eight minutes. I sat myself onto the couch next to Akatsuki and he was watching some corny comedian I had never taken interest in.

"You actually like this guy?" I asked him, raising an eyebrow.

He shrugged, "Yeah, I guess so,"

Whatever. I knew he absolutely loved this guy, "You like the strangest things,"

"Eh, it gets me around," he smiled.

We stared at each other for a short moment until I looked down, blushing, "So, um, you--"

"Hang on," he pressed a finger against my lips, silencing me, "Close your eyes."

I burrowed my eyebrows together in confusion and closed my eyes, waiting for him to do whatever so that I could finish the food. He removed his finger from my lips and I thought he had up and left because I could hear him do anything.

In a short second, I felt a jolt burst through my whole body as his lips made contact...with mine?? I didn't know how to respond except to snap my eyes open. I could see one or two sweat droplets on his forehead; he was nervous. I allowed a few seconds in for my heart to slow down and I started kissing him back carefully. I had never kissed anybody before so I didn't know what to do. Apparently he didn't know what to do either so we sat with our lips locked for about thirty seconds until he grasped my face with both hands. I couldn't do anything else except to mimic his movements, grasping his face in my hands. He parted my lips with his and his tongue timidly went over my bottom lip.

"Akatsu--" I was muffled by another kiss.

My back hit something soft and I soon realized that it was the cushions of the couch. I wrenched my arms around his neck and pulled him closer, increasing the intensity of our first kiss. The time went by so much faster than I had expected. Simultaneously, the stove and the smoke alarm went off, knocking Akatsuki and I out of the kiss.

"s**t!" I struggled to get out of Akatsuki's arms and rushed to the oven.

The rice wasn't burnt, it was just the stupid smoke detector setting off from heat. I turned off the stove and waved a dish towel at the smoke detector to wave away the heat. I moved the rice from one burner to another burner that wasn't turned on and I frantically waved Akatsuki away.

    "Go! Hide!" I panicked.

Akatsuki searched around until he got the stupid idea to hide in the hallway closet. I'd yell at him about that later. I was so relieved to have sent Akatsuki away when I saw Arisa lazily make her way out of our bedroom, rubbing her eye and yawning.

"You're cooking? At this hour?" she looked at the clock on the oven and it read twelve fourty-seven in the morning.

"I'm a little hungry," I smiled, "Go on back to bed. You're sick again."

Arisa nodded and without argument, she went back to bed. There was some sort of thing with her and the flu. After a few more minutes, Akatsuki stealthily exited the closet and stood next to me. I blushed and continued serving our rice.

"Um, it's almost done," I stuttered slightly, "You can go sit down if you want."

"Did I...do something you didn't like?" he asked timidly.

I turned around, shaking my head frantically, "No, no! I...actually, I had been wondering about doing that...for a while now." I blushed deeply, fondling with my fingers.

"Um, yeah. Me too." he smiled weakly.

Without much thought, I raised myself onto my tiptoes and pecked him on the lips. I pulled away and we both smiled shyly and I handed him a plate of rice and we both sat on the couch and ate silently for a few moments. I had the huge urge to kiss him again, relive that moment. I had never really been into guys. I've had boyfriends before, but Akatsuki is a whole different story...if he's my boyfriend.

After another moment of silence of sitting after we were done eating, he took my hand in his and fiddled around with my fingers, "Your fingers are...delicate," he stated timidly.

I only blushed and looked away. It was so weird, he came into this house at first somewhat acting like a tough guy, but he's just so...cuddly. I giggled to myself and he looked at me in curiosity. I quickly leaned over and landed another kiss on him. He seemed to enjoy that because he held onto my head with his other hand and wouldn't let my lips go. Yup, I was pretty sure we were dating now.

We sat around again, cuddling with a few kisses every here and there, until a fever snuck up on me. It confused me a little, but Akatsuki told me I should be in bed anyways for school. He said he didn't go to school, he dropped out. I kissed him good night and told him I couldn't wait to see him again next time and climb into bed, hoping I'd be able to dream of him.

    ~*~*~*~*~*~

Soon enough, six months later, the night time was my main time of day for living the fullest. And it was official, Akatsuki and I were dating, for six months now, almost seven. We never went out to dinner or anything since Akatsuki had to watch over Arisa as well. Akatsuki never told me why exactly he's watching over us. It bugged me a lot, but I learned to get over it and let him do what he needed. And of course, we kept our relationship a secret from everybody. My parents would bury me alive if they knew I was in a relationship with our watchdog.

"Have you had any other girlfriends before?" I asked Akatsuki as he was playing with my hair after I lay my head down on his lap.

He shook his head, "Only you. Now what about you? Have you had any boyfriends?"

"Um," I looked away and fiddled with my fingers, "A few. But you're the first one I've kissed. Most of my other boyfriends were too controlling."

"If I get controlling, you can go ahead and slap me," Akatsuki halfway joked.

I sat up and sat on his lap and wrapped an arm around the back of his neck after I reached over to the coffee table and grabbed my digital camera, "Take a picture of us,"

"What?" he took the camera, "Why?"

    "Because, it's what couples do,"

"Won't your parents see it if it's developed?" he raised an eyebrow.

"No, of course not. I could just stop by and develop them after school some time." I shrugged.

Akatsuki hesitated for a moment but we took the picture anyways. I previewed it on my camera and smiled while resting my head on his shoulder. He wrapped one arm around my waist.

    "That's a favorite," he smiled.

I simled back and dantily kissed his ear and his jaw line. I climbed off of his lap, grabbed his hand, and pulled him up from the couch, "Come with me,"

I led him to the guest bedroom and he followed without hesitation. We snuck by mine and Arisa's room quietly because she'd be a little less of a heavy sleeper since she's not sick this time. I stealthily shut the door of the guest bedroom behind me and walked up to Akatsuki and wrapped my arms around his waist and looked up at him.

"You know I love you, right?" I asked him.

He wrapped his arms around my waist as well, "And I you,"

"Um," I blushed heavily, "Can we, um--"

"Take it farther?" he read my mind.

I looked down and blushed heavier, "Yeah,"

His grasp around my waist tightened, "Only if you want to. I don't disobey you."

"But I won't do it if you don't want to," I looked back up at him.

It was a little embarrassing, asking him to do this huge thing for me, but apparently he felt the same way. Before I could say anything else, he sealed his lips onto mine and spun me around and landed me on the bed on my back. He was already unbuttoning my pajama shirt and kissing my neck.

"Forbidden work is classified to others," I could feel the humor in his voice.

I breathed out a short laugh and coiled my arms around his neck and pulled his lips onto mine harshly. I didn't know why, but I giggled like crazy when he nibbled my neck. My heart was fluttering like crazy when he grabbed one side of my waist with one hand and trailed it down to the waistline of my pajama pants and he yanked on the drawstring. I felt completely out of it, yet completey conscious of what I was doing. I knew I wanted this more than anything in the world, whether mom and dad would approve or not; they don't need to know.

I pulled Akatsuki closer, my breath already lost, and I willingly and voluntarily entered into our new stage of friendship.
