• I wonder what kind of day today will be. Will it be a sad day that drowns me in tears, or a happy day that I would want to remember? I learn something new everyday.

    A year later...

The bell rang. "Shoot, I'll be late!" I frantically dug in my bag for my cell. "Damn!" It's almost time for me to meet Alex!

Yeah, that's right. I'm dating him now. I know that all you guys must be thinking that I'm nuts after what happened with my last relationship, but this one feels different. Alex is more gentle with me, more so than that cheat. I feel something there that never was in my other relationship.

I ran into the resteurant, huffing and out of breath. I spotted him over in the corner, in our favorite bench. I ran over. "Am...I..late?" I panted.

"No," he said. Then he laughed.

"What?" I said. "Is there something on my face?"

    "Yup," he said.

    "WHAT???" I cried.

He grinned. "Naw. Just kidding," he laughed.

I pretend-whacked him with my purse. "That wasn't funny!" I retorted, but on the inside, I knew I didn't really mean it. That's just part of what I like about him.

He draped his arm across my back. "This feel better?" he asked.

I leaned against his warmth. "Yeah," I happily sighed. He's just so romantic sometimes. This feeling is just like those times, the times before I discovered that my last boyfriend was cheating on me. No, don't think about that, Lex. Think about today, right here. Think about Alex.

"Do you know what it will be in a few weeks, Lexi?" Alex asked me.

    "Huh? No, what?"

"In a few weeks is the anniversary of the day I first talked to you," he said. Does he seem a little shy, or is it just me?

"Yeah...So did you want to go out or something?" I asked him. Sometimes he just doesn't know what to say.

    'Yeah..."

    "And...?" I prompted.

He cleared his throat. "I wanted to go to the dance that our school is having that day," he confessed.

WHAT??? Is he forking KIDDING me??? That dance is really kind of gay. I mean, the theme is usually really dorky, you know, like "Movie Bonanza" or something like that?

He saw the look on my face. "Don't worry, this time I'm on the dance committee," he said. "Actually, I'm the vice-president of that committee. So don't worry, I'm going to suggest something fitting the occasion," he reassured me.

"O...K..." I said. I think I smell a rat. Is he planning something?

He changed the subject. "Should we be going to the movie now?" he asked.

"Yeah, I think it's gonna start in about fifteen minutes," I agreed.

He hailed a taxi, and we headed for the theater. The movie was really funny, an old comedy. I think that he picked it on purpose, because I love comedies.

When I got home, I wondered, "What the hell is he thinking, asking me to come to that dance? Is he planning something?" Finally, I shrugged and starting doing math homework. I can't BELIEVE the amount of homework they give you in high school.

By the time that I finished all my homework, I was really tired, so I went to bed. So I turned off the light and lay there.

"Well," I thought. "If he's planning something, it can't be that bad. I know he's not gonna do anything bad. I trust him." With that thought in my head, I smiled, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
