• Kayla turned in her sleep another time before her eyes snapped open. She could feel another presence in her room. Their breathing was hard and labored.
"State your name." Kayla clearly said to the thing. Suddenly, the breathing stopped. Kayla turned on the lights and screamed as she saw what was in her room. A strange shadow-like beast was laying on the floor and Kayla noticed a note stuck to its side. She carefully took the note and read it aloud.
" Elemental tech of the air,

We have implanted you with a sort of "breath reducer" as we found you were breathing far too much. This is just what could happen to you if you disobey us.

    - Dr. Soph."

"Ugh" Kayla grunted as she put her hand to her lungs and felt a horrifyingly long wound there. Kayla searched her room and, finding it quite plain, turned back to the dead beast. There were scars and cuts all along it's long, lean body. This beast was like a finely tuned guitar. Everything about it was almost perfect, but it looked as if they had thrown it into a pit filled with sand, glass, and saws. Kayla closed her eyes and tried to call wind to help her find the way out. As soon as she tried to call wind, her chest began to burn with pain. Kayla grunted and lay back down.
"No use." came a very familiar woman's voice. "Doc." Kayla gestured as a door slid open and a beautiful woman with brunette hair strolled in. " My, my. Don't we look terrible." Dr. Sophie sneered and she ordered two men to hold Kayla down. "We just need to 'examine' your wounds." The doctor leaned down and unbuttoned Kayla's shirt. Kayla felt Dr. Sophie snip a few stitches and clean the wound with a stinging liquid.
"We need you for some genetical 'changes', so we must keep you as healthy as a horse." The doctor smiled at Kayla and cleaned her glasses. The men let go of Kayla as she jumped up and kicked Dr. Sophie right in the eyes. The doctor fell with a thud as blood trickled from her forehead, where her glasses had broken and cut her. "Feisty, but no prize." Dr Sophie sat up and smiled at her. " I'm pretty hard headed." she commented in her soprano voice.
The doctor pulled a strange bottle from her pocket and looked at Kayla with a grimace."Don't you care for your mother? Tsk, tsk. You read the note." and with that, Kayle felt a p***k from one of the men and blacked out.
