• Chapter 1: The Beginning
Ever since James was a baby he knew something was always odd about his life, when he went to school he always thought something was following him wherever he went. He had friends there names were Mary and Jake. James doesn’t really remember when he made friends with marry and Jake since the beginning of time he guessed. And ever since they were friends with each other, they have gone on many adventured, whether it’s going down to the creek or climbing trees in the forest, they were always together no matter what. But let’s start on this day, the day James has a few more days until his 13th birthday. James was sitting alone on the steps of his hut in the middle of Barda village; he was tinkering with his wooden toy sword trying to make it stronger than before and not as flimsy in battle. It was a hot summer day and James was alone, his friends were nowhere to be found on this day, and the chickens were roaming around the dirt road that connects from town to his house. Once he was done with fixing his sword, he set off to explore the woods around his hut. He started on the east side of the woods, only to find the path he made a few days ago to help him get to his hide out back to his hut easier. Once he got into the woods it was already dark and a little bit scary, but James wasn’t afraid; he knew there was nothing in the woods, he heard stories of things once living in the woods, but that was long ago. He ventured onto the path and walked alone silently through the dark forest, he got to his hideout eventually, it wasn’t a big hideout but it was enough for him and his friends. It was a tree house, but back then they called them tree huts. James was about to climb the tree to get to his hideout, when suddenly he heard something in the trees the leaves rustled and the wind blew just enough to blow James hair that it stuck up a little bit in the back. So James looked back up the ladder towards the hideout and fixed his hair, climbing his way up he heard the same noise again, but this time it was closer, he thought. Nothing moved when he wanted it to, so he got up and finally was at his destination. Up on this little humble home of his, there were leaves and pine needles all over the place; and there was a broom in the side of the little home, so he took the broom and swept everything towards the door. Then again as he looked out at the scenery from up top of the hideout he heard it again, the same noise from the last two times. He looked closely at the ground from up top his hideout, he saw nothing again and yet; wait, he saw something for sure this time scurrying through the grass running behind trees. At one point he finally said, “all right, whoever’s out there come out and fight!” So then finally a dark figure from behind the trees came out, you couldn’t see his face but he was wearing a black leather coat and a black mask only revealing his eyes, the eyes of the mysterious figure were very intense and one eye was blue and other was red with a scar on the red one. They made eye contact for a few second until the dark figure said, “You know nothing about this world and your destiny.” James was confused on the random thing the figure said, James didn’t know if he should hide back in the little home or climb down and hit the figure with his sword. So James replied, “What are you talking about?” the dark figure just looked at him for a brief second. And then the figure said, “The darkness in this world grows stronger and you haven’t even started into your powers yet, but you will soon understand.” James stood there with a blank expression on his face wondering what the figure meant by him soon understanding. The figure went behind a tree and disappeared before James eyes. And James climbed down from the hideout to find that the figure was gone, so he walked home thinking about what the figure said to him. He went into his little hut, took off his shoes got ready for bed and climbed in his medium sized oak bed that his father hand made for him when he was a boy. As he tried to go to sleep he thought of the events that happened today, and that everything will be ok in the morning…or at least he thought.
