Yuki turned left and stopped at the door with her hand just above the handle. She pulled back slightly, feeling silly for running to him for a nightmare, but she didn’t want to be alone. She knocked on the door quietly and opened the door enough to peek inside and see if he was there, she really hoped he was.

He was there, sitting behind the desk in the chair.

She could almost feel relief wash through her body and she sighed. She opened it all the way and stepped inside, quietly closing the door behind her, and stood in front of the door.

    “…Kaname-senpai?”

He stood up and moved away from his desk, moving towards Yuki, but she didn’t move. He stood in front of her and took a piece of her hair and placed it behind her ear. She flinched slightly at his touch feeling embarrassed, but inside she jumped for joy at the closeness between them now.

“Yuki,” his soft, velvet voice made her heart skip beats and she suddenly felt very aware of him now,” What has happened?”

“U-um, nothing!” she waved her hands in the air and laughed,” Just taking a walk to enjoy the moonlight and, uh, I thought I heard someone in here so I thought I should check out to see if anyone..was…”

She stopped talking because she didn’t even believe her own lie and he didn’t either. He stared at her hand and she remembered she had cut herself on the glass and she had blood on it which was not good.

    Vampire.

She swiftly placed her hand behind her and faked a laugh,” I better go now and rest. Sorry for interrupting your, uh,” she glanced back at the desk and saw a chess board with pieces on it,” chess game?”

Why play by yourself? She thought, but she turned around and reached for the door handle, opening the door, when it suddenly closed by itself by an unseen force. She looked up and saw Kaname’s hand on the door, holding it shut, and he looked down at her, “Yuki, what’s wrong?”

    “…Nothing.”

He gently removed her hand from the door and brought it to his lips and Yuki paniced, “Kaname-senpai, you can’t! Drinking blood is forbidden-!”

A slight smile crossed his lips as he kissed her wound, a faded purple light surrounding it. She felt awed. She never knew he had these kinds of powers. Her wound was healed before she could fully understand what had happened.

“Yuki…” he gazed down at her, a different hunger in his eyes, and she felt her heartbeat become rapid. She thought she better tell the truth now so she could go.

“It was just a nightmare! Don’t worry, I’m fine-“

He pulled her towards him in a warm embrace. She felt shock, confusion, and happiness hit her all at once, but right now she didn’t care to think about those emotions. Right now she felt safe and at peace.

    This was what she wanted.

She hugged him back, but she hesitated when she remembered something important.

    Zero.

Would he hate her now knowing she was going to Kaname? A vampire who wanted to change her into one?

She closed her eyes tightly and decided not to think and that helped because she suddenly felt tired, drifting into a deep sleep.

For awhile he didn’t let his precious girl go, but he knew she needed her rest. He picked her up and headed out the door heading for her room. He watched her sleeping face in the moonlight and he paused to watch her. He very much wanted to see her like this with her by his side, always.

    As a vampire.

As he reached the room he opened it and walked to her bed, placing her down gently. He sat on the edge of her bed, his eyes glowing a soft red in the moonlight.

“Yuki, you really are a troublesome girl,” he could see her veins and the blood rushing through them. So tempting.

He brushed a piece of hair away from her neck and leaned down, his fangs grazing her neck. He slightly pulled up and then placed his lips on her neck, kissing her.

For now, he decided, the time was not right. He’ll wait until it was time to make his move.

Outside, Zero stood by the door. He was leaning against the wall, glaring at the floor. Beside him on the floor laid a bowl and washcloth that he had brought with him. He glared harder, hurt in his eyes, as he moved away from the wall and headed back to his dorm. It was quite clear what he seen tonight. Yuki did need him in her life, she had once said that to him.

    Apparently, not that much.
