• Flashback

Damien scowled as she sat cross-legged, staring dully at the principal who was going on and on and on and on for what seemed like forever.

“...and I hope that you all enjoy your three years with us...”

“Yada yada yada yada, why don’t you just shut up and let us go already?” Damien growled and propped her chin on her hands. Just then, a wonderful smell wafted past her. Dude, where’s this smell coming from...

Looking around, she decided she was probably the only one that could smell it, since everyone else was still either daydreaming or asleep. Huh, I guess that I’m the only one who can smell this. Damn but it smells good. Where’s it coming from?

Turning her head left and right, Damien finally tracked down the source of the smell. Carefully adjusting her spot, she moved it so that she could observe the person who carried such a heavenly smell. A slim swimmer’s build, lightly tanned skin, and a mane of sleek black hair. The face was beautifully sculpted and simutaneously both handsome and beautiful.

Woah, that kid is hot. And she also smells like heaven. Never smelt anything like it. She cast another glance at the girl. Wonder if I’ll get to be friends with her...

    End Flashback

    “...mien! Damien! Damien!”

    “Wha-! Woah!”

Damien lost her balance and promptly fell off her chair. Pushing herself back up to her elbows, Damien glared in mock anger at Aja. “Dude woman, what’s with you and scaring me? It fun or something? Does my misery bring you pleasure?” Aja grinned and whapped Damien over the head lightly.

“It’s your own fault that you get scared so easily. Scaredy-cat.” Damien struggled to disguise her grin with a scowl. Not surprisingly, the grin wore out. Damien could never be angry at Aja. “Idiot,” she mumbled, ducking her head so that Aja wouldn’t see the smile. “Unless you haven’t noticed, I only get scared by you.”

Aja rolled her eyes. “Not my problem. Get up, need more water here.” She waved her water bottle in front of Damien’s face. Damien groaned and rolled her eyes, snagging the water bottle from her friend’s grasp. “I got it, I got it. Gimme a second to get up.” Aja stood back and watched as Damien stood and put a hand to the small of her back. “Getting old, are we?” Damien scowled at Aja, who was grinning like the Cheschire cat. “Oh, be quiet.”

The duo headed down the hall together. Damien observed Aja out the corner of her eye and wondered if the girl leaned on her as a sort of reflex action. If that’s the case, why does she only do it to me? Not that I really mind the weight. It’s kinda comfortable actually...

    “Hey Damien.”

    “Hmm?”

“What were you thinking about when I called you?”

“...Whatever it was, I’m sure as hell not gonna tell you.”

Aja shoved Damien’s head roughly. Giving a dramatic cry of false distress, Damien fell away dramatically. Aja laughed. “Idiot. Get back here and stop making such a scene.” Damien grinned and happily obliged. As Aja once again leaned on her, Damien looked at her sideways. Not that I would ever tell her... but I guess I was just thinking about how nice it was to become friends with you, Aja. Wish that this could last forever...
