• Reverie had arrived at Arielle’s apartment. The place was on the lowest allowable floor. But by far the apartment was the classiest. It took up the whole space. Decorated with black and white. Red lava lamps were everywhere. Small rectangular windows where laced just blow the ceiling of each room.

She plopped herself down on a sofa and waited. Of course it was around 1 pm. Arielle wouldn’t be getting home for her break for another half hour. She picked up a hamburger out of the fridge. It wasn’t as filling as blood of preference, but it gave her some energy back. Now all she had to do was remember how to use a microwave.

Reverie was debating whether to call Caleb when Arielle arrived home. Catching sight of Reverie, Arielle had squealed, dropped her phone, bags, and lunch, and pursued upon tackling her.

“Nice to see you too” Reverie smiled. Arielle finally got up. They were now sitting on the black leather couch. Suddenly Arielle’s eyes widened.

“How did you pull that off?”

    “It’s a long story.”

    “Honey, we do have eternity.”

“Yes, but you only have an hour for your lunch break.”

“Oh well. So do you have a place to stay or are you staying here?”

“I don’t know did Malcolm move out?”

“Please, that’s just an on again off again affair.”

“Really, does it alternate every few decades?”

“Any ways this apartment has about 2 bedrooms anyways so your staying and-” Arielle stopped there. Reverie rolled her eyes she knew what the question was.

“I’m not sure, he may convince me to come back.”

“Hmmm, so blocking Caleb calls for now” Arielle said, she put her finger to her lips. Then she noticed her bombarded lunch.

“I doubt he’ll even call. He nearly destroyed the house.”

Arielle rolled her eyes. Then smiled.

“So I guess pizza call.” Reverie looked at her confused “Oh yeah, Caleb didn’t let you out of the house that much when we were in Italy did he. Well dearest you are going to positively adore it.” Arielle picked up the phone and ordered a pizza with everything on it.

“Darling have you had a shower yet. I mean I know you don’t need it, but that run gave you at least a few split ends.”

About a half hour later Reverie had stepped out of the shower. The doorbell rang.

“Could you get that I’m on a conference call.”

Reverie rolled her eyes. She was wearing Arielle’s white silk bathrobe and her hair was dripping. She decided to open the door any ways. Reverie was now staring at a wide-eyed boy who had just dropped the box he was holding. They stared at each other for a minute. The boy scrambled to pick up the pizza. While Reverie stood there, paralyzed.

There was something about him. Something that had repelled her like oil and water yet attracted her like a magnet to metal at the same time. Some thing that gave her chills, but also made her glow with warmth. There was something that told her she shouldn’t get any closer to the boy, yet she couldn’t help but be entranced by him. He got up again after checking the pizza out. And she was again staring into the magnificent amber eyes of the shaggy golden haired boy.

“Rev? Everything ok? I heard something- oh.” Arielle looked at the delivery boy and back at Reverie. “Rev if you answer the door like that it’s a wonder if he doesn’t drop the pizza. Frankly I’m impressed he didn’t have a heart attack.”

    “50% o-off” stuttered the boy.

“Oh it’s no problem. That’s the reaction my friend normally gets when she’s fully dressed.” Arielle said stepping in front of Reverie. Arielle winked at the boy, who blushed but was still staring at Reverie. Arielle looked at his nametag and smiled. “Frankly Evan your in luck, she just left her husband last week.”

Evan was now blushing crimson, as Arielle pushed him into the apartment. Reverie was still standing at the door. With her other hand, Arielle hooked Reverie’s elbow and tugged her beside the red faced Evan who was now sitting on the couch.

“Evan, Reverie, Arielle.” Arielle said pointing to herself. She smiled, Caleb was a scumbag who broke her heart and was about to break her precious Reverie’s heart. Yes Caleb would tear her to pieces. But hey it’s just an affair with a human who won’t live for more than 75 years or 5 more at the most. Why not have fun with them.

“I should probably get back to work,” Evan said uncertainly getting up.

“I’m sorry” Reverie smiled apologetically to Evan.

Evan now was blushing darker as he forced himself to turn away and headed out the door. Honestly, he thought while fumbling for his keys as he left, is it even possible for a person to be that beautiful. “It's ok.”

Back inside Arielle’s apartment Reverie was glaring at the pizza eating Arielle.

“Honestly Revy, I thought I was doing you a favor” Arielle said as she gracefully gulped down the last bite of her slice and reached for another one.

“Oh yeah how, by endangering the life of a human boy?”

“Oh come on that was of your own making, answering the door like that, I’m surprised he didn’t at least faint.”

“Don’t you dare try to change the subject? You know what Caleb would do to that boy!” Reverie was almost at the hissing point right now. Arielle just rolled her eyes.

“If you stood in front of that boy, there’s no way Caleb would hurt him.”

“Yes but that would hurt Caleb, and even if we were actually split up, I have less control over my self than other vampires, don’t you remember. I was given this life.”

“Revy!” Arielle said in a surprised, hurt tone.

Reverie didn’t say anything, all she did was grab another slice of pizza and stalk gracefully off to the spare room.
