• The clock hit seven and the song 7861 begins to play. Lorilea falls off the top bunk of her bed. She hits the cold floor and sighs deeply. She sits up and looks for the alarm button on her clock. She finally finds it and turns off the song. She hits her head against the wall and swears under her breath. She grabs one of the poles on her bed and pulls herself up. She stumbles over things on her floor and walks to the bathroom. She gets into the bathroom and pushes her bangs out of her face and looks into the mirror. She rolls her eyes at herself and turns on the water. She puts her hands underneath the faucet and grabs a handful of water and splashes it in her face. After she wipes her face she brushes her hair and walks back to her room. She sits on the bottom bunk of her bed and picks up a shirt and a pair of pants off the floor. She rubs her eyes and stretches one more time before sliding off her shirt and putting on her clothes. She walks out of her room and grabs her bag. As she’s walking onto the porch to leave the house she grabs a cigarette and her mp3. She lights the cig and holds it between her fingers as she flips threw her mp3. She finds the song vermilion by slipknot and turns up her mp3 as loud as she can. She puts her mp3 in her pocket and her cigarette in her mouth.

"Dori, STOP!" yelled Emilie from a distance. Lorilea didn't even have to turn around to know who it was. It was Emilie, Lorilea's best friend since forever. She was a little bit more preppy than Lorilea, but she was just as deep. Emilie never called Lorilea by her name she called her Dori. No one knew why or even cared so they kept it that way. "Dori, I thought we talked you out of smoking, and if you keep your ears glued to that crap you’re going to go deaf." She yanked the earphones out of Lorilea's ears. Dori jumped into the seat of the car and rubbed her ears. "Well at least if I go deaf I ain't gotta listen to you and Taylor's dumbass's mouth. And god dammit Emilie do you have to always bring up that should stop smoking. For god’s sake shut up you know I'm not about to quit." Emilie was laphing and putting Dori's stuff in the back seat. "I know, I know, but still you really should stop its gonna make your lungs black, and there gonna fall off, one side then the other, and your gonna be screwed." It was silent for half a second and then both of them busted out in lafter.

After the two minute car ride to school they had finally arrived. Emilie was getting their things out of the trunk. When she got back in the driver's seat she saw Dori with her head in her knees and when she looked ahead of them she knew why.
