• Today was the beginning of the end. It all started when Lauren woke up.

Lauren Jamieson was a 15 year old who lived a perfect life. Her parents had top-notch jobs, all her friends were in the cool crowd, and she was filthy rich. She slipped out of her bed, and put on her silk robe and matching slippers. Lauren yawned and padded down the long hallway to the bathroom. She took a look in the mirror. Ugh. Her wavy chocolate brown hair was matted into long knots that wove intracate patterns on the back of her robe. Her green-blue eyes had small bags under them. Lauren took the soft handcloth and wet it with warm water. She rubbed it over her face, feeling the warmth cling to her cheeks and chin. When Lauren was done, she looked at herself in the mirror. A peircing scream shot through her lips and echoed throughout the mansion. There, on the mirror were 3 words that had mysteriously appeared while she was washing her face. Written in something red, was this.

    TODAY YOU DIE

Lauren's mother rushed into the bathroom. Lauren had curled up against the wall opposite the sink, and was still screaming. "Lauren! Peanut, what's wrong?" her mom asked bending down and wrapping her arms around Lauren's shuddering body. Lauren was beyond speech, so all she could do was point to the mirror. "What? What, did you do something to your hair?" her mother asked, a tone of worry in her sing-song voice. Lauren, feeling hurt that her mother didn't see the writing on the mirror. "No." Lauren's voice, normally light and feathery, was thick from the crying she hadn't realized she was doing. "The mirror. Don't you see it? Please tell me you see it!" Her mom glanced at the mirror, then at Lauren. The worry that had been in her voice now showed on her soft face. 'My daughter is crazy' Lauren's mom thought. Lauren felt shock cross her own face. She shot a look at the mirror. The clean mirror. Lauren broke into hystarics. "Peanut? Peanut! Calm down, honey!" her mother was holding her shoulders and lightly shaking her. "I'm sure you did see something, peanut! Just calm down, please!" her mother's voice faded. Now Lauren was hearing murmuring. Then an intense silence pounded inside her head. A hoarse, rough man's voice spoke out. "Today you die." Lauren her her mother panicing again, and she realized she was screaming again. Lauren closed her mouth, and took a deep breath. "Peanut, are you okay." Lauren shook her head. "Tonight I die."
